  1. Talk of possible heavy snow Thursday/Friday? Possible in your eyes or not?
  2. I highly doubt it. It doesn't look likely for snow in many places. The further North and more elevated you are, the better. You might see some flakes but mixed in with rain, it makes it pointless. No fear though! The BEST of the weather is yet to come! (Mid January/February) They are actually the better times for snow as the sun is a lot weaker then due to it being mid winter (I think >.<)
  3. Ha! Not when you have to walk a lot everyday like me! Wind yes, rain NO. Regarding that snow chart posted above, 2 questions. Firstly, is it likely that Wales will actually get snow down to low levels and secondly, why is so much snow falling in the sea? :S
  4. Yes I see what you mean. Obviously we're all hoping for upgrades, temperature wise, not wind speed! ahha Little things are bound to change but... If things continue in the same vein we could have an even better situation than now, marginally:) (Fingers crossed!)
  5. Well seeing as it kicks off on Thursday that's only less than 2 days time! It' pretty much nailed on!!!
  6. Please correct me if I'm wrong but it looks to me as though places such as Wales, Midlands could also see falling snow Friday-Saturday, not just Scotland! It wouldn't stick around at all but the uppers are there, and the precipitation (on the GFS)
  7. I think it would bring heavy rain and strong winds. Not much wintry though as the uppers aren't there, unless you live on top of a mountain in Scotland. Also not as bad as what's being programmed for a couple of days time! Long way out though so not worth looking at.
  8. Hey Hoping it's similar to last years snow watching on here! Have a feeling we won't see much this side of New Years, after though, maybe something of a mix of last years cold/snow and Jan 2010's length, or longer! (hopes )
  9. http://www.meteociel...unpara=&carte=1 Take a look, although my American geography isn't so good and it may be somewhere completely different but there are pretty low daytime temps there, considering that it isn't in Greenland or the Arctic! http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php?ech=162&code=code&mode=9&mode3h=&runpara=&carte=1
  10. Thank you soo much for that I don't really understand the atmospheric stuff Btw, you've reached 5500!
  11. So we'd have -4 uppers which would be marginal I'd have thought. Why did BFTP say 168 hrs? Thanks (I don't know much ) On a side note, daytime temps of -16 around the Texas area of the US about 6th December :o Is that even possible?
  12. http://www.meteociel.fr/modeles/gfse_cartes.php?&ech=168&mode=1 Is that not a little too warm? :S
  13. Why the excitement of 168 - 180? Deep lows but the uppers are not cold enough? (Noob here ahah)
  14. Out of interest, what would that sort of cold deliver to the US? Also, Could that have any effect on our weather?
  15. 15th November 14th November Just the comparison to check on the gains/losses.
  16. Are those figures for your area? Where I live, November wasn't that good compared to a lot of other places as we only got 1-2 inches of snow However, the thing I remember most is that it didn't stop snowing for about a week! The snow was only v. light though but it was cool having it snow everywhere I went Yeah, the problem with last year was although I had loads of snow on the ground at Christmas, it was all old snow and melted a couple of days later
  17. It doesn't say that at all! It's cold weather for Nov. and Dec. The mild is said to be January, but with the caution that confidence is low at that time period. Chin up! Surprisingly, even though we had a lot of snow last year, 17th December (12" where I live, something that wasn't predicted by any major weather..people), my favourite winter of my short life was January 2010, because even though the snow was less, it seemed to last longer, around 2 weeks if I remember correctly. That season also brought a couple of inches in December aswell. I hope we get some Nov. - February cold/snow as my Dad keeps going on about 63, boasting almost and I feel a little sad haa
  18. You don't have to sound so defensive, he wasn't having a go.. Simply disagreeing with you, which I'm sure is allowed on your version of the site? Technically by you saying mild always wins, you're not enjoying different kinds of weather, as most of the year is mild. It's called winter and on this site, people like there weather by the season. Hot weather in Summer, storms in Autumn and cold and snow in Winter. Is that really a problem? Anyway, as we're here to talk about the weather, I hope we DON'T get snow, yet. I'd rather get it all mid November and fit in some cool/stormy weather at the moment
  19. That doesn't sound sad, that sounds like a great mid winter night for most people on here, including me
  20. Then that's what I have my fingers crossed for this Winter! Easterlies it is.
  21. I agree, just saying that forecast said West was best Can you help me out because I'm struggling to understand why we wouldn't get more snow from NW as there is a bigger body of water to cover? :S As mentioned, the NW'ly that came last year was great, as it dumped around12-16 inches where I live! What would be the best setup for countrywide heavy snow and cold as it seems to be, with snow, only East or only West, not both.
  22. That says North and WEST, not East :/ I do hope he's right though As most do..
  23. Sorry mate but I've seen you on a few threads now and it seems to me that you are going out of your way to make trouble. If you're so clever, how about you compile a winter forecast for us please, seeing as BFTP doesn't do a good enough job of it. If you go on the BBC say we're going to have warm spell, do you expect them to back it up with a 100 page dossier on it? No. I can assure you BFTP knows more about weather than you do, and given that he gives up his time to write up a forecast for us should be praised. "The perturbation cycle is maintaining a prevalent -ve NAO state and with oceans in cool state widespread NH cold is likely". Is that not "scientific" enough for you because it hardly oozes of misunderstanding.
  24. I hope this weather continues for a while with the odd few days of rain to keep the plants happy ... Actually feels quite hot in comparison to what we had just a few months ago... Can't seem to access the model thread for some reason? :S
  25. There is some talk on the model thread of maybe a Northerly as opposed to an Easterly.. Would this be as productive as December in terms of snow and cold?
