Rules I use as a geologists. No cotton, go for wool or wool mix. Avoid jeans. Leggings and craghopper fleece lined trousers are good. Smart wool full tog socks are excellent. Use lots of light layers to trap warmth. Good walking boots i go for leather and keep them waxed. Waterproof and windproof jacket and waterproof trousers are a must. Getting a little bit excited now!

Looks lovely! I now have aquarium and weather station envy! Have a 120l commuity tank and a 65l breeding tank but l like that set up! Toasty 3oc here this morning after a min of -1 last night.

Yeah was coming down pretty well for a bit, huge flakes! Nice little dusting. Showers seem to have intensified over Wales which is quite rare! Hopefully it will still be there in the morning and for others too. Nice little surprise. Trying to decide if i stay up for a while to see if we get more. Been a long day!

Just started settling here! Quedgely and Bristol look awesome. So glad some people who missed out last time are getting snow. Hopefully more wake up to a snowy surprise Now 0.9 in Stroud

It's turning ice pellet drizzle now!

I think you may be right seems to be a few sleety blobs in it now and then. It was 6oC about 1.5 hr ago now at 2.5.

Happy Christmas all. Down in Felpham for a few days and just back from walking the dinner off. Nice and stormy out defiantly blew the cobwebs away. If we can't have snow this is my next favourite weather, especially when by the sea!

Got down to a chilly -5oC at about 7.30 now -2. The single glazed extension is currently at 1oC! Brr! Windows are pretty though! Not had ice on them for years!

Snow has been falling pretty much all day so lovely to see. If only the dew point was lower I recon we would have got at least a foot. Couple of inches is still awesome. Hopefully others in the region will have a few surpises before the end of tomorrow.
