  1. If that bad boy goes I think we'll all know about it! Especially with December 21 2012 approaching ;-(
  2. Aha, classic quote from a classic film! Perhaps we could all cover ourselves in deep heat if we get an epic winter! Lol :-)
  3. I have to say, all this talk of winter is over and the twitching over this or that outcome is what makes this thread so entertaining! Personally I just take it all with a pinch of salt and find it very amusing seeing people get so het up! Keep up the great work folks, best site and read on the web, absolutely love it! :-) oh and just for the record I reckon it is going to be an epic winter, one that will rival the greats ;-)
  4. Welcome aboard IW, you'll have bags of fun on here and learn bucket loads :-)
  5. Now that is what I like to read, really cannot wait to see how things unfold this winter - epic winter, yes please :-)
  6. I'll be in Northumberland this year which isn't too far away from Tyne and Wear so who knows with all this talk of a Notherly cold blast I may get lucky.... .... well I can dream! lol
  7. I thought I would throw this one out there - can anyone remember the last time it snowed on Bonfire night. In my lifetime, I don't ever recall it, least not IMBY
  8. I think this forecast has been discussed (don't quote mon that tho') before and viewed upon with distain by those that are very knowledegeable, mainly due to it's lack of reasoning I believe!
  9. struth mate, throw us another snowball http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-19932805 So, actually how rare is it for the Aussies to get snow?
  10. Can't quite believe it has been 25 years since this, but an interesting insight (if not a little short) into how the Met'o have evolved following the Great Storm http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-19926031
  11. One of the reasons why I enjoy a prolonged spell of harsh cold and snowy weather so much, is that it brightens everywhere up. The Winter nights don't seem quite so long, somehow - not sure what anyone else thinks! Considering just how poor last winter was for many, we (IMBY) didn't do too bad, the last few seasons have definitely gone some way to making up for 20 years of near misses and complete and utter agony ! Give us an epic winter and I'll be beside myself
  12. Not this Winter, something tells me it is going to an absolute beauty with raging blizzards, record snow depths and many cold and Winter records broken! No science I'm afraid just a very strong gut feeling and yes this is most definitely a RAMP!
  13. Out of interest, if the Government are aware of such possibilities why aren't they investing in more infrastructure to cope with it. How does the old saying go 'fail to prepare, prepare to fail'...
  14. Thanks Steve, I'll second what the MBK said - a great post which really sounds inticing... Indeed, exciting times ahead
  15. Thought some of you may find this of interest... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-19848112
