  1. Just watched the BBC weather at 10.30 pm and they have not hinted at any snow, apart from tops of the mountains in the far north! Has to be said that the way this winter is going we'll all be needing a canoe rather than a sledge! And, as for those pesky Yanks they get all the best weather! - how many of us would love a winter like they are experiencing this year! Ce La Vie, theres always next winter
  2. I can recall many from the mid-late 90's / early noughties, from an IMBY perspective. This Winter certainly has a feel about those grim years to it, except this time around we are getting a relentless barage of lows and rain! Personally, right now, I would be happy with a week or two of hard frosts, at least then it would at least feel seasonal! I have high hopes for Feb but something tells me this years Winter maybe be remembered for all the wrong reasons... ...and if I read the word 'potentail' one more time on this thread I might have to find the nearest local bridge!!! Lol
  3. I reckon old Mad Madden's forecast would have been about spot on for the United States, what a Winter they are having. Some folk get all the luck hey! He couldn't have been more wrong about ours and will be interesting to read how he comments on this come April! I have been lurking in the model thread and what an emotional rollercoaster it has been. One minute an easterley set-up the next its gone! I was feeling really quite positive about this Winter back in November but am really struggling to find any enthusiasm for it now. Can't help but feel it is going to be a complete wash out. I really hope I am wrong as I was so hoping that my 6 month old Goldie puppy would get to experience at least one descent fall of snow! Ce La Vie! Off to find the nearest birdge now!!! lol
  4. https://twitter.com/fascinatingpics/status/415648876763566080 Would love to visit here as looks like they get a Madden Winter regularly! Lol! Merry Christmas everyone
  5. Well, that really would be something if that came off on Xmas Eve - I would give a lot for it to come true, but sadly, we can but hope...
  6. Wow, and they carried on playing and in short sleeves! We are lucky if we see 8 inches in an entire winter - what I'd give to see a blizzard like that right now, or at some point this winter :-)
  7. This is what you call snow http://on.nfl.com/18haQJb I'm moving to North America! Lol
  8. Joe Laminate Floori tweeted this recently which maybe of interest https://twitter.com/bigjoebastardi/status/408226920644354049 Not sure where he got his info from tho'
  9. Looks like the green ghost from ghostbusters has taken over these images! Lol apologies mods...
  10. Feels like the United States always gets a pasting... ...about time we had one to rival them!
  11. Just in time for the jet to start migrating south, Europe to cool down and the brutal cold to start filtering over to our shores!
  12. Some very light snow flurries here in North Notts at the moment. Have to say I wasn't expecting to see a flake, so although nothing to shout about, at least it's a start! 😃
  13. Out of interest, I was listening to Smooth FM earlier and the DJ said that he had put a shovel in his car as we are expecting heavy snow this week! Presumably he must have been reading the Daily Express etc. on his lunch break as the BBC Weather forecasters haven't mentioned any such thing! Wishful thinking on his part me thinks! The anticipation of this Winter is killing me, I really do hope we have some memorable snow events, even if they don't last long, although my preference would be to have a prolonged and memorable cold spell!
  14. Hope all those eggs don't get scrambled! and as for the cake, well I hope that is well and truly past it's use by date! Right made me chuckle, cheers for that
  15. If my memory serves me correctly (which as my wife will tell you, is unusual!), when we had that amazing cold spell in 2009/10 didn't we have a slight initial cold spell, much like next weeks, before the proper cold moved in?
  16. I think we are in a different era now and although a very mild winter could follow I have a feeling this year may surprise a few people, especially if you are a coldie! 😉 My thoughts are cold next week and first week of December, then a mild interlude, before blocking becomes an increasing feature leading to a very cold Jan, Feb and first half of March......only time will tell, but it will definitely be interesting to see what does unfold.
  17. Everyone must be having a lay in this morning!!! Lol Bring on some hard frosts and proper Winter weather
  18. That has to be the greatest 'ramp' I have ever read! Lol! After that I Really hope that for once his forecast comes off! one cannot deny that he isn't half brave for issuing something like that, either that, or extremely fool hardy! Hoping, as always, for an epic winter ðŸ‘😃
  19. Very interesting that and thanks for posting. One things for sure, if we are about to enter a mini ice age the Government are going to have to do something about those rocketing utility bills !
  20. Our resident Robins are already looking pretty plump, perhaps this could be an early sign of a harsh Winter or impending cold! They definitely weren't so big this time last year. Anyway, probably means nothing but you just never know...
  21. I think that no matter what the weather is, or how bad it is, as long as you take / make the necessary precautions and where the appropriate attire you should (more often than not) be absolutely fine. Too many people in this country where ridiculously inadequate footwear when it is cold, snowy and icy and then wonder why they slip over and break their bones! There really is no excuse as there are plenty of places where you can buy cheap walking shoes these days and get those pull on ice spikes etc. There you, that's my rant over...!!! Bar humbug and all that!
  22. I have not had chance to read this but it looked interesting and i thought it would be good to hear what the more knowledgeable peeps on here thought! http://wattsupwiththat.com/2013/10/09/a-link-between-the-solar-magnetic-field-and-weather-patterns-on-earth-may-explain-our-lower-than-normal-severe-weather-in-2013/
