  1. Very interesting and informative, thank you for posting.
  2. As you are aware, not much, but I don't pretend to be nor do I make any forecasts what so ever and rely on informative forecasts for my weather needs. I respect forecasts that can be made that are informative, but of course weather events can be unexpected as was the case a few weeks ago with a simple band of rain moving further south than projected (think it was that one). However, I don't think it's clever or informative to make vague forecasts. Whether it's on here or elsewhere. I stand by my comments that forecasts snow for 'north' is not informative or helpful in anyway what so ever. We need weather forecasts to be informative, but people need to understand that forecasts may not be 100% accurate. People on here often say 'cold for north' or 'bad for south'. How does that help anyone? It's bad enough with the IMBY views on models and posts. Sorry, if that offends you and others, but I find uninformative forecasts to be as useful as using jelly for foundations of a house. There are posters and posts that are informative and in-depth and acknowledge certain event may or may not happen, and that's good because it's been informative and not trying to be a smart area by making comments 'snow up north'. That could mean snow in Aberdeen or Manchester and gives the poster/forecaster to look good when in essence he's taken a 1000 shots at the goal and one of them luckily went in.
  3. I'm not the one coming on here and attempting to predict weather by saying there could be snow in the 'north'. If people want to predict weather then brilliant, but what's the point when it's so vague? Doesn't help anything or anyone. If I can't predict what the weather will be from the charts then I will say so and not say things like perhaps some snow in the north and not in the south. That's just pathetic vague.
  4. This is a problem I have with the model thread is the vaguness of locations. 'northern'? Seriously, when people say that or 'southern' well, I feel it's very vague and not intelligent. Why don't you or others be a bit more specific? Possible snow for northern areas? Is that in parts of Scotland, Newcastle, Preston, Leeds, Manchester? Also, what elevation? Again people say elevation, but not many say what elevation. May as well say 'well, next week there will be weather'.
  5. Does this mean we can discount the mild looking charts then that have been posted along with the views of the posters?
  6. Massive hail shower now in Disley. Intense wind too. Edit Could be rain, byut droplets look huge.
  7. I've got to say it's been a long time since I've seen a day like what we're having today with high wind speed and intense rain. Absoloutly battering it down now with rain. WOW, just had a intense hail shower.
  8. What would be defined as 'prolong cold'? -1 or -10 temps at ground level? Very confusing as it depends on peoples definations. Looks like it will get colder and snowier. Question is by how much. Saying things like no 'prolong cold' isn't really being helpful or informative or specific.
  9. Very informative, thank you. Nice to get some precession rather than general terms in this thread such as 'bad for south' and 'okay for far north', lol.
  10. So going by the models, an area like mine could see snowfall early January? Had decent snowfall around here first part of December.
  11. Got my window open as I am doing college assignment work on my computer. I think the temp is around a mild 9 degrees at the nearest weather station to me, but the wind blowing on me is very chilly. Nice and fresh though.
  12. Forecast for Windermere :o http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-Windermere-UKXX1375 Lots of snow :o Accurate or not?
  13. Snow :o http://uk.weather.com/weather/10day-Buxton-UKXX0214 Hmm, I won't hold my breath though.
  14. Wow lovely day. Started of by going along Disley canal which is between 100-150 meters asl. The quality of snow was poor to say the least - trees were litterally dripping and very slushy. There is a massive hill in front and a very stunning scenery and the snow line was easily visabile - then I looked left and can see Kinder coverered in white. Anyway, I then trecked and lugged my dslr gear and tripod to the highest point in Lyme Park and the view was fantastic. Easy to see lower areas that had no snow, but the view was crystal clear and could easily see Manchester city centre. Anyway, southwards ( I think) or east wards there was lots of snow on the hills. On the road to the peak of Lyme Park near a radio transmitter station the snow was deep in certain places and very respectable amounts. Peak District / Pennines views were lovely Quite a harsh cold wind at top though. Will go though my images later. Certainly need conditions to have low levels area get snowfall then that will be great.
  15. Hmm, that maybe it now for PPN according to radar. That's it, I am off out to enoy the snow
  16. Yeah, shame because Macclesfield would, I assume, be good regarding accumulations. I want to head out with my tripod and DSLR. Didn't do yesterday as it was dull and rubbish. Eager to do so today pending right conditions.
  17. Heavysnow here :o This is awesome" IS the cloud expected to break up today at all? Looking outside I am delighted. As you said and even two weeks ago maybe I did not expect this. Quite a few unexpected events.
  18. Nice covering here. What's the forecast, will snow hsowers continue thoughout the day or will the cloud break up? Snowing here. This must be teh band the people of Saddleworth and Oldham have had :o
  19. Temp rapidly falling. I can actually take a few days of mild weather and not to fussed about snow over Christmas Days because if it did snow I would want to get a train to Edale or Windermere and they don't run on Christmas Day Though I am hoping for a good January. Not bothered about record breaking cold, I just want good snowfall.
  20. Urgh, hope these winds change so that I can have a streamer
  21. What's chanced or snow tonight/tomorrow? Met Office has me now for sunshine all day tomorrow?
