  1. Gfs 12Z now looking superb from Sat onwards. Snow Sat morning in off-shore winds. Tuesday/Wednesday NNW flow with sub 515 thicknesses and -10 850s. Is this our time?
  2. Latest Liverpool TAF suggests showers will be ongoing all night which is new; initially rain but then sleet (RASN).
  3. Me too. Couldn’t even be bothered to give us any lightning.
  4. Let’s see then :-) happy to be wrong. There is a significant wind change which would suggest a front/trough/short wave.
  5. Perhaps because wins veer so less sea modification around, But 850s would suggest still 200 m plus.
  6. What’s all this talk about tonight? All that happens is winds veer North-North-West but 850s are 2 C warmer than gnow. Precipitation Won’t get very far inland with that flow direction either. Sorry to be negative, but just not seeing it for most of the region atm.
  7. Coldest 850s have been here for a few hours and are about to leave.
  8. I can’t see anything to get excited about until at least Monday except 150 m plus. Wind is on-shore for most of the time until then. After that it does look very good yes. Ice pellets and rain showers this morning here as expected.
  9. Next Tuesday looking like a better set up. Let’s hope it holds together.
  10. I’ve told you all before what the big problem is here with this set up. The wind. It’s far too strong. Perhaps you could get snow with these 850s if the wind was much lighter. As it is, it was never looking like snow to low levels this week as nothing lower than -8 850s was ever forecast and the wind was always looking far too strong.
  11. Even most of the -7s have disappeared now mid week so probably 200 m plus for snow and probably staying mainly dry near the coast. Maybe next weekend could hold some interest, but it is candlemass day on Friday and I generally look forward to spring after that point.
  12. Headline: Windy and grey but mild. Today: It will be cloudy with the hills shrouded in fog. The cloud will be thick enough for some rain and drizzle, particularly in the Pennines and Lake District. It will also be windy with gales over exposed areas. Maximum temperature 13 °C. Someone tell the Met about the foehn effect; you can’t generalise the whole region in a set up like this.
  13. A beautiful day today. 12.3°C with strong sunshine. Foehn effect on full power. I expect Crosby, Hawarden or Valley to be the warmest place in Britain today. Next week looks good for snow above 100 m at times, 0% chance for coasts as wind is far too strong again. 850s do not go below -7 either
  14. Well it’s supposed to be 6°C now but it’s actually 3.5°C; a bit off hey.
  15. Lol what have I done! Welcome to the flu advice forum. But seriously get well soon @itsnowjoke
  16. Oo what’s that I see for Tuesday evening. Oh well it’ll probably end up in the Midlands instead anyway.
  17. Lots of lightning over West Wales today. Looking good next week for the next snow chances. Looks like some cold upper air to tap into. Remember we are going to need at least -8 850s for snow to near sea level; I’m going to say this now before we all get excited about -6s and -7s again. the above is from a maritime source though; in a continental airmass or an off-shore flow then the 925s and dew-points are more important.
