geordiekev Yep, I'm really enjoying this period of model watching.

Mcconnor8 I'm surprised the GEM is up there.
-
Harsh Climate I agree mate. Especially gem and jma.

Chesil View it's not exactly up there imo. I think we need to pay attention to the ukmo with regards to Thursday now. Also the high resolution models at short range.

CoventryWeather it's just coming out now but only goes to 90 hours. The control goes to 144 hours but another couple of hours until that comes out.

Big upgrade on the 00z mogreps. Many more cold runs from the 8th. This is what we need to keep seeing - upgrades at short notice. Many of the memorable cold spells started with upgrades at short notice.

TEITS I know what you mean. They generally do. This is a very complex one. The cold surging down from the north, quite an energetic atlantic. All about timings of course. Don't get me wrong. I hope I was wrong yesterday with my confidence about it tracking north. I hope the adjustments south continue but something tells me there's a lot yet to be resolved with this one.

Don Looking more promising this morning. Don't know about you and don't know if it's my imagination but I'm sure there's been many ocassions when things upgrade on a Sunday, only to downgrade again on the Monday morning runs

Harsh Climate Hi mate. Lol, I think that ecm op has thrown a bit of a curve ball. That's all I will say for now. I still think it will track north but time will tell.

Don Let's hope so

Don I hope so too... For your sake

Don Would like to see you try big man.

Mike Poole Certainly half of one brow raised since the 12z suites for 12th Feb onwards. We've been here before though. Let's keep our powder dry for now. Certainly until the Monday morning runs.
Lukesluckybunch It's been going that way for the last couple of days now unfortunately mate.

At least we can now lay to rest that potential snow in England on Thursday. Scotland has this. However, like I said earlier, there has been a turn for the better on the 12z suites for next weekend onwards for some form of winter cold for our shores. Let's see how it develops.

TEITS Not often you say that? Really? Lol

Just to counteract the misconception that I may be being a doom monger today - A more positive development on the gfs 12z compared to the 06z run is lowering pressure over Europe. You can clearly see the difference. Gem, although I'm not a fan of the model is trending the same way this evening. We need to see ecm trend this way though. We may then have something to sing about.

Ali1977 I was specifically referring to Thursday as some were getting excited about a potential snowfall. The jury is still out from the weekend onwards but imo there's not much I can see that is anything more than normal late winter fayre. Slim pickings going towards mid Feb.

January Snowstorm The writing has been on the wall for Thursday for the last few suites. As I said earlier, some parts of Scotland are still in the game but the rest of us need to let it go now. Not healthy to cling on to false hope.
