With the Sulphur Dioxide emitting from the 2 month old Icelandic volcano eruptions now clear banding across most of the Northern Hemisphere, will/could this lead to lower temperatures overall??
Anyone got an answer to this one?. Going by reports this monster is heading rapidly towards a cauldera event which could certainly effect our weather agreat deal.
-
you may have to eat your hat as reports are just now coming in that an eruption is underway in the bardarbunga cauldera. Hopefully its not a big bang!VEI6 eruptions are once a century, its highly doubtful.
-
The next 6 months could be interesting if bardarbunga blows soon and its a VEI 6...

Just heard rumble.

A big dark cloud has just come over but no rain or thunder
-
Brief rain shower earlier but nothing yet.

sorry but could I have that in layman's terms please.Good Evening, just had a look at other models (12z ) some differences from our progs for this time next week. We still expect low pressure circulation over Southern Alps (1005mb ) with a strengthening Scandinavian high, even signs of pushing west. The Atlantic low to sink SE rather faster than UKMO and colder upper feeds than ECM indicate. Tomorrows shorter term forecasting system we think will provide a clearer indication if we remain on the right course. C

Many, many times bigger than your figure.
Food for thought though. Could you imagine the situation if our rather larger target was in the firing line now?
Its only just been discovered so if it was heading at us then its game over time

Mars would be fine it would just make very big bang something like 500 hiroshimas

Looks like theres a chance that a 30 mile diameter comet could hit mars next year
Which would make the one that wiped out the dinosaus look small... might have to
Kiss goodbye to the mars rovers.

Just starting to turn to snow here in braintree essex 80% snow at the moment
-
Can't believe we got a second helping lol ; )
For some of us its our first helping

Its a bit tricky to tell at the moment, the mean flow is WNW at the moment, but you have more of a Northerly component to it south of the Thames, then a more NWly component into the east of Essex, becoming more of a direct West flow as it moves towards the M11.
To me it looks like in the area between Stansted and Cambridge, its heading directly west towards the M1at present.
Getting slightly lighter again here at the moment as I'm right on the southern periphery of the heavier stuff
SK
Looks like we could do well out of this if it keeps up... our own streamer

Still snowing in braintree
-
Braintree snow shield currently at 100%....hopefully it will be breached tomorrow
Dont worry we will catch up tommorow... I hope.
-
I take it that it wont hit essex....

This is what I was expecting small upgrades when we get closer to the event. I remember something similar happening during the past 2 winters where the breakdown kept getting pushed back on every run. Hopefully the same will happen this winter
-

Yep 5 mins after that post it turned to snow. I didn't know who was more excited.. me or my two year old.
