    Its not looking promising I am afraid. But Radar is showing an area of convection behind the frontal system. And it has started to get brighter here.

    If we see a storm I will try to get a photo of me trying to fish for lightning lol Yeah the thought of a storm today did send a shiver down my spine, I am told it is safe to use during storms, time will tell!

    Oh lucky you! I live just up the road in Chichester, I don't think we will see anything today which in some respects I am pleased about because this afternoon I am playing with Sussex Fire and Rescue and a 17meter carbon fibre pole!

    Very nice! Coast we have to be careful or our 'Most Active In' Weather Girls! Oh hold on you did not name the thread Weather Girls you wimped out and went for the more politically correct option. Lets hope the girls get involved and post up some of their pin ups we don't want this all one sided, we will be accused of something....

    I think Central Southern England may see something from around 3pm into early evening. There are some really nice wind convergence showing up on the charts today I feel its one to watch as it could prove to be an evening up on Portsdown hill.

    I am not holding my breath for us down on the south coast, there maybe a small chance of something around 17/1800 hours but I don't think it will come to much.

    That's so frustrating, what camera are you using? Did you shoot in RAW? Do you use a lightning trigger? Saying that though you probably couldn't pull anything back because too much data has be burnt out. Answered my own question it is shot on a Nikon D3100, 1.4 sec exposure at f22

    The crack/bang can be explained relatively easily. The same principle as when you are hear a gun fire up close, you get a high pitched supersonic crack as the round passes you followed by the low pitch bang of the gun. With Lightning you hear the supersonic crack as the lightning passes the closest point to you then hear the bang of the lightning reverberating form the cloud and surrounding terrain.

    Bognor and Selsey do get some tornado activity, these are normally formed in the transition between high wind speeds blowing in from the southwest and the slower slack winds in the lea of Isle of Wight and are classic spin off tornadoes. Here is a diagram that I posted back on the 30 July 2005 to help explain why they are so common here, after one of the Selsey Tornadoes or it may have been one of the Pagham harbour Tornadoes.

    Today is oneday work prevents me chasing but saying that I am working in Kent, doing a product photo shoot so i will have my cameras with me. So hope to see something.

    Its not looking good on the ground. Oh well hopefully tomorrow will bring something, I am in Kent tomorrow so will be interesting to see what all you south easterners go on about when there are storms about.
