A max temp of just 8.1°C so far today, if it stays like that it'll be the first time we haven't managed double figures since 25th April.

Pretty amazing temps for this time of year! Max of 20.2°C here a couple of hours ago, currently 19.5°C

Suddenly very gusty here, chairs getting blown over in the back garden.

23mm of rain here yesterday. It pretty much tipped it down for twelve hours from early afternoon onwards with virtually no respite.
Another 4.25mm so far today as well.

Plenty of loud rumbles here in Solihull at the moment.
Absolutely tipping it down, and very dark too although blue skies on the far horizon.

Occasional rumbles in the distance. The radar suddenly looks rather juicy.

Coventry and Rugby cracked it again today
Yep, they've had a good summer storms-wise. You need to go on one of your 'exotic holidays' there before the summer is done.

Probably the same storm I was watching develop.
Immediatrly to the south of us another cell has pushed up an anvil (inside 10 mins) and is rapidly catching up with the first.
Also the first approached Solihull from WSW, but second one is going ESE. It could be a line of convergence is forming as the wind swings more NW.
The second appears now to have caught up the massive anvil to the east of me and made quite a decent storm.

Indeed, the entire horizon to our S and SE is now jet black.

Bish where are you?
I'm here MIA!
The worst of it passed to our south. We had a brief shower, but nothing more. However, I can still hear it rumbling away in the middle distance.
Pics taken from a mobile phone are never ideal, but this was the view looking directly south a couple of minutes ago

Remember what I said about no wind here? Well, scrub that! It's really picked up in the last fifteen minutes or so. Still sunny, but with some dark skies to the SW presently.

Sunny skies now, and barely a breath of wind.
31.50 mm so far today, the most since 24/09/2012.

Well, England have wrapped up the test match. Bertha can do as she pleases now, as far as I'm concerned!
A day of sunshine dotted with convective clouds. Quite a pleasant day so far, with the temperature around 22*C. A bit breezy and windy, though.

Personally not looking forward to that bad boy tomorrow. Not really that keen on strong winds and rain.Nice pic DRL, whereabouts is that?

Looking good for you I say Bish. Redditch then S Brum?
A few rumbles, but they sound a long way away. No rain as yet. Looks to me like the worst of it is passing to the south of here.

The skies to our SW have gone incredibly dark.

The worst of the storms have passed to the south of here, but I can hear the occasional rumble of thunder nonetheless.

Absolutely lovely morning here. Clear blue skies, and a nice breeze to keep things fresh. Currently 21.4°C

To be honest if August doesnt turn out that great, we can be very satisfied with June and especially July. Fantastic conditions for most of the time.
Which would make Summer 2014 almost a mirror image of Summer 2013 i.e. decent June, excellent July, and a modest August. Very acceptable overall.

Up to 25°C now. Still very warm here.
Seems you've managed to retain much of the warmth. 21.1°C here, a full 6.1°C cooler than this time yesterday.
