  1. ooohhhh yes indeed she was.....were not a million miles away from you...worth a 30 min drive....

Would that be the fantastically-named Sara Blizzard by any chance?

She clearly has an extremely short fuse:

  2. Bish. Do you know the location of the Monkspath weather recording station?

I would like to pay it a visit...

    MIA

Not the approximate location, no. Can't see an address on the website. The Weatherobs map seems to locate it on Kettlebrook Road, near Widney Manor Golf Club.

Why would you like to pay it a visit?

  3. We were in a so called good spot and got nothing!

Dull, dank and cold again today. Winter has been pathetic so far

    for most in this region.

The outlook is rubbish as well.

I reckon game over for a proper cold spell this winter.

You need to step away from the charts for a few days old chap, and distract yourself doing something you enjoy - watching sport, going out for meals, salsa dancing, whatever. You're getting waaaay too worked up about the weather at the moment.

  4. Mark a totally random question... do you know what the ASL is for Wirksworth and is it higher than Matlock?? and also some lovely looking shots there mate....

The Earthtools website should be able to tell you the ASL for anywhere in the UK, Bigsnow.

  5. Nice to hear reports of falling snow around the Nottingham, Shrewsbury and (as always) Peak District areas  :good:

It was a bit of a damp squib here last night to be honest, in fact very similar to the boxing day experience - an hour or so of moderate snow which was soon washed away in the hours that followed.

I think what annoyed a lot of people were the weather warnings which were issued yesterday morning, up until then most of us had relatively low expectations.

  6. Just got back from Solihull, was very surprised to step outside at 18:45 into reasonably heavy snow which was already sticking to the grass and pavements.

Still coming down now, albeit intermittently. However, it seems my dew point has just crept above zero, now 0.2°C

  7. Overnight low of -4.0°C here in Solihull. Currently 0.6°C with a Dp of -0.3°C

Some promising developments overnight, it seems. Kudos to MIA for spotting the low forming over southern Ireland yesterday evening.

  8. cannot stand Shef, she seems as bad as dianne oxberry and eno equator on NW thread

    local weather sucks!

lol I'd forgotten about your dislike for Shefali, the poor girl

I can't see what the problem with her is? Or do you just dislike regional weather forecasts in general?

  9. Currently 0.4°C under patchy cloud. Dew Point is -2.1°C

I'm finding it difficult to get particularly excited about tomorrow night, to be honest. I absolutely hate these ultra-marginal will it/won't it events.

Temperature dropping like a stone in the last hour, now -1.5°C with a Dp of -3.3°C

  11. Too late, we've claimed him as one of our own and dragged him to our snowless lair that is the SW/Central thread, where he'll have to make do with one snowflake every couple of years :D

Time to launch a rescue mission for poor old Andy, before it's too late!

Cover me - I'm going in.....

  12. Heavy snow forecast for Solihull on Wednesday, as per the latest Met Office update:

    post-13544-0-58721600-1421615591_thumb.g

Trouble is, in my experience these forecasts tend to chop & change several times a day

PS good to have you back onboard, Andy

  13. Now, seeing we have the atmosphere right in here. Who's having a beer and who's having wine?

I'll have both, if you're paying Gord!  :drunk:

Nice vibes in this thread tonight, in direct contrast to the infamous MOD thread - can't even be bothered to venture in there tonight. I'd rather keep my sanity intact, thank you very much.

  14. Very dark skies to the north of us right now.

By the way, as some of you are probably aware, I work for the local NHS at Solihull Hospital. This morning, an winter weather advisory warning was issued by the Trust covering the whole of next week - the full text seemed to anticipate a potentially disruptive snow event Monday into Tuesday  :good:
