  1. Well today can be summed up as: Utterly Fantastic. Almost unbroken sunshine with clouds rarely interfering with the sun and when they did it was very brief. Very warm mid afternoon and with over 20c surpassed, Spring has well and truly set in. However cloudier tomorrow but perhaps some brightness or sunshine late on but not as good as today. Cant wait for the summer after days like today!

    Did you see the max temp charts for today, Blizzards? Looks like Herefordshire managed to get up to 22c at one point this afternoon!

  2. Temp up to 18.3c now, and still slowly climbing.

    I'm back in Falmouth as of next Monday but only for 6 weeks and ill be back again so not long though I will be in and out of Cornwall throughout the summer, probably going down whenever the weather is good. smile.png

    It must be nice to have a choice, you get the best of both worlds smile.png

  3. Spring at last?

    Yep, certainly starting to feel like Spring now, albeit belatedly. Hopefully I should see my first 20c+ temperature very soon.

    My first 20c+ day in previous recent years:

    2005 = April 30th
    2006 = April 21st
    2007 = April 5th
    2008 = no record unfortunately
    2009 = April 20th
    2010 = April 10th
    2011 = April 6th (the temp reached 20c or more on ten separate days during April 2011 - what a Spring dirol.gif )

    2012 = March 27th (topped 20c the following day too, but not again until May 22nd!)

  4. My current sequence of sixteen days was finally broken last night, although it was very nearly extended as we dropped to just 0.1c before six o'clock this morning.

    My records only go back as far as 2004. Here is where the latest sequence sits:

    17 days:

    19/02/2005 to 07/03/2005

    16 days:

    23/03/2013 to 07/04/2013

    14 days:

    01/02/2009 to 14/02/2009

    12/01/2013 to 25/01/2013

    11 days:

    28/12/2008 to 07/01/2009

    31/12/2009 to 01/10/2010

    16/12/2010 to 26/12/2010

    15/02/2013 to 25/02/2013

    So the local record remains with the 2005 spell. However, if the temperature had dropped slightly further than 0.2c on March 22nd 2013 (when we experienced four inches of snow here in Solihull) the sequence would have stretched to a whopping 22 days instead.

  5. A few microflakes here this morning, and still bitterly cold.

    Last night was the thirteenth consectutive night whereby the temperature dropped to zero or below, and the twenty-third instance in twenty-six days since March 10th.

    Sequence of my daily lowest temps since March 10th:

    -1.3 / -4.2 / -4.6 / -3.8 / -6.4 / 2.2 / 1.3 / -2.5 / -4.7 / -0.9 / -1.0 / -3.4 / 0.2 /

    -1.3 / -2.5 / -1.9 / -1.0 / -1.9 / -4.2 / -3.9 / -5.5 / -6.9 / -1.9 / -5.0 / -3.4 / -0.5

  6. Number of days whereby the temperature at my local weather station dropped to zero or below during the month of March.......

    March 2009 = 5 days

    March 2010 = 10 days

    March 2011 = 9 days

    March 2012 = 2 days

    March 2013 = 23 days

    And where March 2013 resides within the past five years of recordings.........

    1. March 2013 = 23 days

    2. December 2010 = 20 days

    3. February 2013 = 18 days

    4. January 2010 = 17 days

    5. January 2009 = 15 days

    Says it all, really! ohmy.png

  7. The sun today has really zapped much of the remaining snow. Only a few slithers of the stuff left now, apart from where it has been shovelled to one side to clear a driveway:

    Farewell then, dear friend. See you again in November (or December, or January, or February etc.......).

    In order mine were

    1) March 22/23 2013 snowfall

    2) January 18/20 2013 snowfall

    3) June 28 2012 MC storm

    Pretty much my top three as well, although I did enjoy some of the big Atlantic storms late last year. Upon reflection, a really fascinating twelve months of weather.

  8. still lots of snow left in areas, green grass one place, white grass just a few metres away! 4.1C max today so less cold, maybe another -6 tonight

    Pretty much the same here as well. The snow and ice has retained an impressive grip in many areas, helped of course by the fact we haven't seen much by way of sunshine beyond early morning.
