  1. A couple more clips featuring that extraordinary sonic boom:

"Clips of the Chelyabinsk, Russia meteor's multiple shockwaves. Wait for them and crank up your speakers. The first two have sound but the last few really have none. The last few show some of the damage caused by the meteor's shockwaves including a severly damaged brick building with bricks laying in the street. This meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk on February 15, 2013 injured over 500 people and caused widespread damage."

  2. Anyweather, you are correct on that one. I have seen snow in May whilst walking on the tops of the Peaks and round here most people know of the infamous snowfall in Buxton that caused a cricket match to be cancelled.... in June (June 1975)! By that time I am wanting warmth and thunderstorms though!

Derbyshire vs Lancashire, Buxton, June 2nd 1975 - snow stopped play:

  3. Great wasn't it (if rather transient)

A wonderful couple of days. Daytime snow events always seem more dramatic to watch unfold. IIRC, the snow on the second day wasn't forecast until just before the event.

Although yes, it was all gone shortly afterwards.

Feb 2007 was the first 'proper' Midlands snow event I'd followed on the net, via NW and of course the Met Office radar. I remember thinking I was going to get into big trouble at work for inappropriate internet usage (I didn't), but I just couldn't help myself lol. I clearly remember watching on the radar as this huge area of PPN gradually worked it's way towards us.
