Well villa have won so anything can happen today
lol I was about to post exactly the same words!
This can only mean one thing............Midlands-wide snowmageddon tonight & tomorrow.

On XCWeather, if you play the Wind Direction tab on animated you'll see a very definite deviation on the latest frame - winds turning more easterly, which presumably is a good sign overall.

By the way, has everybody noticed how well this thread is flowing today? Much better to have one Midlands thread IMO. Good banter as well

I'm feeling pretty lazy today. Got my Binoculars out, focussed to 3 meters. I can now inspect the precipitation falling onto my car without moving.
lol who needs the Met Office when we've got kmanmx on the case!

Current temp is 3.0c, dew point 2.6c

10.50mm of rainfall already today. I hadn't appreciated the rain would be this heavy.

Lashing it down right now, the heaviest of the day.
The temp is gently starting to fall, now 3.6c with a DP of 3.2c, whereas around midday they were 4.7c and 4.4c respectively.

I didn't mean to post it on NetWeather at all - too many tabs on the go! I've removed my original, so suggest that everyone else does the same - apologies to all!
lol does that mean that somebody on a Baggies forum is currently reading a post about dew points, wind directions and 850 temps!!!!

Let's look at our current squad and who is likely to be around still next season:
Begone, Baggies heathen!!!!

This link is a good way of observing temperature differences across the country - click on the 'Temp' tab near the top-right:
I believe it updates every 20 minutes or so

Steady rain here for most of the morning. Current temp is 4.6c, although it seems to have stopped climbing now. DP is 4.3c
I know it's still hours before anything might happen, but I ain't holding my breath.

Small covering of snow here in Knowle - was not expecting that at all
Bish

Nice to see the 'ol white stuff again, even if it isn't sticking
Bish

Snowing here now, some biggish flakes mixed in as well. Very, very windy too.
Bish

lol it's still bone dry here - just goes to show the radar doesn't always tell the full story!

Wow the North-West thread is going into meltdown, multiple reports of blizzard-like conditions although not everywhere is seeing it settle so far.
All heading our way - could be interesting for a couple of hours before it turns back to rain
Bish

Clouding over now! Couple of hours I think it will be here! Coming in very quick. But rain or snow... We shall see!
It seems to be slightly too warm for snow here at the moment, however the temperature is dropping quite quickly now the sun has disappeared - five minutes ago it was 5.3c whereas now it is already 4.5c. The DP is currently -0.9c

Some pictures of the great 1991 blizzards in coventry upto 31cms that day.
Fantastic link shezale, thanks for posting!
Incidentally, there is a thread within the Historic Weather area for this particular event - would you mind sharing the link there as well, plus any memories you have of the day?

Re. Friday....early doors yet, but encouraging NAE output for the Midlands
I'll believe it when I see it falling from the sky, AJ!
How's life treating you down in the wilds of Wiltshire?

Very little snow now remaining outside. The only places where it has survived is where it was piled to one side when clearing driveways etc.
Bish
-
Absolutely tipping it down outside. Plenty of our snow survived the deluge last night, but it won't be around for much longer!
Bish
-
I wouldnt say it ended 24 hours ago? still had thick ice/snow everywhere up to midday with temp -1.8C at 7am, 0nly 0.8C at midday, its ending now really, say 6pm on 26th Jan, temp upto 3.0C
There appears to be a real north/south divide with regards to the temperatures in the Midlands at present, which probably explains why those mostly to the north of Birmingham saw snow last night whilst the rest of us mostly experienced rain and sleet. We got up to a sweltering 6.5c earlier this afternoon.
PS congratulations sir on your 5,000th post!
