Love the fact I don't have to worry about getting to work tomorrow morning - what a great week to book off.

Country file forecast just showed a band of snow over us for Tuesday
Really??? I was under the impression the Tuesday event had slipped much further south. Things are looking up.

Not completely wasted, Belgium would have got something out of that!
Snow is still going but radar looking more sparse...think we'll still see on and off light snow throughout the night.
Suits me just fine, I'll treat any further snow as a nice little bonus. In fact, I've treated anything above the 1cm dusting I was privately expecting from this event as a whopping great bonus

Deffinatly dying out on the radar now
You guys must be pretty happy overall though? Not often that Telford / Shrewsbury ends up within the 'sweet spot' for snow?

Just look at all that lovely snow out in the North Sea - what a waste
Can't grumble overall however, today has been highly satisfactory.

Hhmmmm still very light but temp must have dropped as its now starting to cover in places where Tarmac was showing, would really love to know how long this is going to stay around for!
You're pretty much down to zero now as well:

I'd often wondered what it must be like to be stuck under a Wash Streamer. Although that's not what we've experienced today (obviously), the effect has been much the same i.e. stuck under a relatively narrow conveyor belt of constant snow from the east

This started at about 8:45 this morning and, with a very brief exception around midday, has continued ever since. Once it got going again, the snow this afternoon has certainly been a lot heavier. We're now back to the total we had on Friday evening - very satisfactory overall
Temp is currently -1.4, with a DP of -1.2

The southern edge of the PPN is starting to erode slightly now, but only very slowly. Conversely, the main area of snow is still intensifying slightly.
Great winter's day. Added another couple of inches I would say

Temperature has dropped back down below zero again, good sign.
This has been far, far better than I expected - just goes to show that hours of persistent light snow is just as good as one short heavy fall.

Fantastic cold spell for us west midlanders, a real wintry scene outside with more light snow falling and feeling very cold indeed, no thaw here for the foreseeable future, its entertaining to read the northerners moaning and SE'ners about a slight thaw tomorrow, no problems here in central warwickshire
*snigger*

Wow - much, much heavier now. FANTASTICO!!!

Much heavier now, looking very nice now

I think you've just been in a lull for a while, which is unlucky...it's still edging northwest as far as I can tell...which is good news for you because it should put you back under the heavy stuff soon.
Edit: Sorry, should add while still pivoting, the heavy stuff will approach from the east/north east!
Yep, it's gotten slightly heavier again now. Really blowing about in the wind, too.

Very light dandruff-like snow here for the past 45 minutes - perhaps it's starting to edge northwards now.
Wind has suddenly picked up.

Starting to come down again now, albeit lighter than before.
Current temp is +0.1C, with a DP of -0.8C

lol in the space of ten minutes we've just gone from the heaviest snow of the day to absolutely zilch

That's a fairly high temperature considering...and slightly worrying. Are we going to have a problem with unforeseen mild sector?
Probably just the usual midday temperature spike. Will probably start falling again in a couple of hours (hopefully)

Has certainly pepped up a bit in the past half an hour, although still very fine flakes.
Temp is now -0.1C approx. As long as the DP stays below zero we should be fine here (currently -0.9)
Bish
-
Temp is -1 and DP -2.
In that case you're doing better than me - currently -0.5 temp and -1.5 DP respectively here.
Must be an elevation thing I guess.....

The snow still continues but actually is melting now. Our patio had a new covering as did the roofs but now the snow is so fine it is just melting on landing. It seems to be doing more harm than good now!
Bizarre??!!
What's your current temp and dew point?

Still just light but persistent snow. Not that I'm complaining - this event could so easily have missed the Midlands altogether
A few hours of this will at least partially recover some of the snow lost yesterday, which is fine by me.

if you run the radar frames through it seems like we are dragging alot of the ppn towards us from our SE and it seems that we could keep a good flow for a while
Fingers crossed that's what continues to happen.
I reckon the likes of yourself and gimmesomesnow are in a prime position, from a Midlands point of view

Rain today showing it coming straight over the midlands
Ideally we want it to continue pepping up over the south of the region, which would then in turn keep us well within the snow zone for several hours even as everything moves northwards.

lol great post! I remember the 'snowless ages' very well - how times have changed.
PS you should add 18th February 2010 to that list as well, huge fall associated with evaporative cooling
