Has anyone just seen a flash of lightning around the Solihull area, having a fag at the back door, not really paying attention and swear I seem one
Can't say I noticed or heard anything, sorry!

Well done to everyone who saw snow. Here in Cheshire it's just been sleety rain at best. Puddles everywhere. Gutted.
Sorry to hear that CC, you're one of the best (& sanest!) posters on the Model thread - you deserve some reward.

Well this certainly makes up for the disappointment that was the so-called breakdown event from a couple of weeks ago. I know a lot of people did well from that, but here it was just one long miserable rainfest.
Temp has barely budged in the past couple of hours, 0.3c with a DP of 0.0c.

Coming down really hard again now, great stuff!!!!!

Still falling here, although getting lighter now.
The snow we had for about twenty minutes after seven was amazing, a beautiful sight to see it falling so heavily.

Dont worry to much about the dry gap unless you are south midlands, the system is pivoting
I hope you're right, but it's getting uncomfortably close now.

Not even going to click on that link!!!!

Heaviest of the evening so far, really coming down fast again.

Just remember folks, elavation and precip intensity is the key to seeing any snow. The precip band will start to fade after midnight, so lets hope you snowy fans get your snow before midnight!
Well I'm happy now whatever happens later. I wasn't really expecting anything from this event bar heavy rain & a bit of sleet.

What are we expecting to see when we wake up here in Worcestershire - roads covered / schools closed ?
I think ice is likely to be the greater problem in the morning to be honest.

My Dew Point is now down to the magical 0.0c mark.
As Steve Murr would say in the model thread - BOOM.

Absolutely belting it down out there at the moment, everything starting to turn white

Major downgrade for Stoke on Trent according to the beeb, hope they're wrong!
Really? I would have thought you'd be right in the firing line for the entire evening?

Big flakes falling now. Some places in the Midlands are going to get an absolute hammering tonight methinks

Wet snow falling heavily now, and sticking too.
Nice to see the PPN pepping up as well.

Grrrr the drop in temperature seems to have slowed right down, just as it's getting interesting!
Now 0.9c with a DP of 0.5c..........nearly there.

I tell you what, no matter what happens tonight regarding snow, there are going to be some very serious issues regarding ice. If temps keep falling as they are, all those puddles are about to freeze solid over the next few hours.

Current temp is 1.1c with a dew point of 0.7c
Bish

It keeps alternating between snow, sleet, & rain here
I'm confused - I didn't think snow was possible until the dew point was zero or below? My local (i.e. four miles away) weather station still shows the DP at 1.0c above freezing?

Snowing in Knowle - YAY!!!!

sleet now in Wellinborough a few odd snow flakes mixed in
Exactly the same here as well, occasional flakes now falling.

Still rain here at the moment.
What is your current temp & dew point PG?
Bish
-
Temps continue to slowly fall, now 1.9c and a dew point of 1.5c. Raining lightly with a bit of sleet thrown in as well.
Steady as she goes........

Looking among many of the other posts on here, I'm starting to feel a bit guilty! We've done really well here, a few cm's already with pretty much constant snow since about five in the afternoon, varying between light to occasionally much heavier.
