  1. Same here, any bits where the snow had melted are now white again. Light snow since about 08:30. Either this is several hours ahead of schedule, or the main PPN is slightly further west than was forecast. Bish
  2. On a slightly different subject, has anybody else been having problems with the RainToday radar over the past couple of days? It's playing up again right now I see, huge areas of PPN in the NE disappearing & reappearing between frames. Very frustrating. I can't get on with the NW radar for some reason, the places names aren't visible enough under the PPN echoes. Bish
  3. Normally snow-to-rain events don't quite cut it for me, but I guess if this cold spell if going to end, it might as well go out with a very big bang. Bish
  4. When do you think we can start radar watching for tomorrow's potential event? The early developments over France right now: http://www.meteox.com/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=loop1uur Bish
  5. lol he'd probably take one look at this thread and think to himself "What a bunch of nutcases - I'm outta here!!" Bish
  6. Agreed. He's based in Worcestershire I believe. Bish
  7. The Met Office forecasts seem to chop & change almost at random. Over the past 24hrs, the Solihull forecast for Tuesday has gone from Heavy Snow to Light Snow to Cloudy and now back to Heavy Snow again! Bish
  8. I thought the Sunday/Monday feature was something that spins off the main system? I may have misunderstood however. Bish
  9. The latest forecast on the BBC News channel didn't look especially inspiring for the West Midlands over the next few days, although they did stress great uncertainty about the precise extents for any snow. Tomorrow evening looks increasingly to be a SE/Eastern UK event only, whereas Tuesday only showed snow as far north as Gloucs. Bish
  10. We should get a glancing blow from this event, although a slight shift westwards might deliver something epic for us West Midlanders. Let's keep our fingers crossed! Bish
  11. Is everybody else seeing that eerie glow in the sky that always appears after a decent snowfall? Quite a beautiful site. Taken from the Monkspath Weather Station webcam: Same view 24hrs earlier: Normally you'd see the night skyline lit orange from the streetlights. Bish
  12. Yep, if I remember correctly it wasn't supposed to reach us until a late shift in the models pushed some of the snow our way. The first ten days of Feb 2009 produced all sorts of fun & games here. Bish
  13. I think we're all suffering from Snow Fatigue Bish
  14. A lovely 14cm here, that's just under six inches by my reckoning - very satisfactory indeed Bish
  15. Pretty much stopped here now. Awesome day, there's something very special about daytime snow events. I make it about 24hrs of continuous snowfall if I include the light stuff yesterday afternoon & evening Bish
  16. Yep, in fact I don't think I've ever seen that before! Fingers crossed you'll see some action soon Bish
  17. I have to say, this is magnificent. Far exceeded my expectations. And just think: whatever falls today will most likely stay around for several days - the latest Met Office 5 day forecast for Solihull shows max temps of zero up to & including Tuesday! No major thaw on the way Bish
  18. Heaviest snow of the day here, bucketing it down now - thank goodness I booked a half day! Drive back home at lunchtime was a bit of a mare, my house is at the top of a hill, almost didn't make it, wheels spinning everywhere. Temperature seems to be falling quickly as well, now -2.8C Bish
  19. It's been absolutely belting it down here for the past couple of hours. Classic snow event in the making! Bish
  20. Whiteout here in Solihull as well. Not especially heavy so far, but very steady in a blustery wind. Could be several more hours of this Bish
  21. Glad I've booked tomorrow afternoon off for a bit of NW radar watching. Plus I've had next week booked off since before Christmas, looks like my choice of week was impeccable! Bish
  22. Evening all. Very light snow in Solihull since about half past three this afternoon, nothing heavy but everything has slowly turned white since it got dark. Very nice, and very unexpected. Temp currently 0.0C approx. Bish
  23. Yes, no reason to get too downcast at this stage, it will pretty much come down to rader watching on the day, as it always does. Plus, as I stated last night, at least if the main PPN stays to our south and west it will mean we stay within the colder air for longer, which improves our prospects over the weekend and into the start of next week Bish
