  1. Whole lot of nothing happening here except a lively breeze, grrrrr CD
  2. If there is snowfall in a 20mph wind, is it a blizz? Wouldn't it be just gleeful to be able to say: "It's just blizzing down here!" But I can't cos its not!! ( CD
  3. Glorious morning here, but very cold. 2c on the car thermometer but feels colder in the stiff breeze. I was woken around 1ish by the wind roaring past the window, I don't think it was raining then, but at some point it must have rained quite heavily as there are some pretty substantial puddles around. There had also been an attempt to grit overnight, too. Have a great day, everyone! CD
  4. You said that nearly an hour ago, what a cliff hanger.......or is it that bad you can't face telling us? Lol! CD
  5. Good Morning, peoples! Went to work at 4:50 this morning, 3c and a blustery breeze, but only light cloud and the moon was visible. Left work at 9:15, beautiful sunny morning, cloudier than earlier, breeze has picked up and the temperature had fallen to 2c. Just hung some washing out, feels darn colder than that with wind chill. CD
  6. It's a rather bright afternoon, the rain has cleared away and I can actually see clear blue sky, yay! I'm not sure what blustery stuff we'll get later, but hopefully you'll hang onto your smalls, Coast! CD
  7. Oh dear, I know I am deaf now, but perhaps I was deafer than I realised as a child! Whole new generation in Southend saying "vein lights"! It is still raining, but I think it is quite mild at 7.8c CD
  8. Lol, I'd forgotten about that bit, probably the trauma of being at the receiving end so often! CD
  9. Good morning! Your quip about the first of the month made me smile, Coast! Up here we say " pinch and a punch, and no returns", which reminded me of something else that I don't hear and see often anymore (probably as I no longer play chase games in the school playground!), crossing fingers and saying " vein lights" to call a truce in the game! Anyway, it's teeming with rain here and has been since at least 4:30am when I got up. I gather we've got this for some hours yet. Which is a pain, as I have a pile of washing to dry and I hate using the tumble drier! So did this predicted blast just run out of steam or is somewhere else going to get battered with storm force winds today. Well, whatever the weather, have a good day, people! CD
  10. That's because they don't think any weather happens there! Actually the weather comes in handy sometimes, I've actually got some washing drying on the line at the moment! Yay! CD
  11. So we are flip flopping all over the place again, will it, won't it? Snow, rain, sleet, windy, calm? All these ifs and ands! "If if and ands, Were pots and pans, There'd be no need of tinkers" My contribution to folk wisdom! CD
  12. Good afternoon everyone! Dull and breezy here at the moment. Car thermometer read 14c an hour ago. There's a horrible clamminess in the air, yuk! The local riverlet, the Mardyke has apparently burst it's bank further upstream from me, not due to the rain, but because the local authority has not been clearing debris nor dredging! Thankfully the floodplain has not been extensively built upon, so little in the way of flood damage. Nevertheless, just made me wonder how many other flood events over the country are due to this same negligence rather than the force of nature? CD
  13. Well, if its red then amber, then it will go green, it its just amber then it will go red!! Traffic lights, that is!! CD Oops, sorry that was in reply to hernebaylooby's post!
  14. Small factoid heard on the radio today: 67% of land on Earth has never had snowfall, perhaps we ought to consider ourselves privileged! CD
  15. Synoptics: 7/10: seems to promise much, but did not deliver too many times Snowfall: 3/10: 5 hrs of snowfall, no accumulation, 12 hrs of snowfall, 8cms of accumulation, very disappointing, I know I've seen better! Frosts: 3/10: I've been leaving home at 4:30am since October 2012, only had to clear ice from car three times. So for me this winter scores 13/30 or 4.33/10 CD
  16. I read a book donkey's years ago called "The HAB Theory", story was about the magnetics poles shifting......perhaps it begins in Harrow Weald CD
  17. I think I saw about 15 grains of snow in the strengthening breeze, and I suspect they were dislodged by amorous pigeons on the roof! CD
