Me and Steve (Major tarantino) can attest to that we went a hunting from about 7pm, we missed the main show, but was hoping for an encore as the lightning pages around the net showed a fair amount of strikes. Although we got some nice pics, nothing other than wet stuff came of a trip up to scotch corner and back

  5. 2 things, torro have released a watch alert: as most of you will already have got this i'll only post the areas and synopsis here: Valid from/until: 1200-2100 on Thursday July 22nd 2004 for the following regions of the United Kingdom & Eire: South-east England, Central southern England, East Midlands, East Anglia, Lincolnshire SYNOPSIS Warm advection in the lower layers and cold advection aloft will promote potential instability. CAPEs of 600-800 J/Kg and LIs of -3C are forecast. 500 hPa winds of 40-50 knots this afternoon, with strong 0-6km shear. 0-1km shear is forecast to be around 15 knots. A convergence zone looks likely to set up from around Sussex-Wash this afternoon. An upper trough is moving in from the west. Skies are rather cloudy at the moment in the warmer air. I'm thinking ooooh might get a bit of action for a change..... was I right....? Hmm an interesting set of animations. http://www.zamg.ac.at/satbild.php3 click on the 12 hour animation (about 1.3 meg) which will run to the most recent one (atm 19Z) keep an eye on the mid atlantic (left middle) looks like a big bunch of stuff coming acros hopefully it'll move east and not s/e might give us some inte3resting stuff
