  1. Snow on the Ochills this morning...quite surprised. Off to Glencoe at the weekend for two days skiing. They had another 2-4 inches last night above the chair.
  2. Bring back winter ...this spring is even worse than the worst winter day!
  3. Glenshee has never opened Glas Maol this year Ravelin. That's how bad their snow has been. Even some talk of the season ending this weekend at the Shee. However the forecast I saw for the week looks like they might last until April. Problem is , unlike Nevis and the Coe. Glenshee didn't manage to build a base on the access runs! This weekend could be a beauty for the Coe and Nevis though.
  4. It's snowing down to 1000ft on the Rannoch. Good news for the ski centres after the washout of a weekend. We have decided to book up for Austria to ski, as the Scottish weather has been so p#sh this year. Mainly the wind ,and our last ski trip was a washout and gale. High pressure at the end of the week, will bring good news to the Scottish ski centres. Although Glenshee has had a devastating year.
  5. Mega damage being done to the ski slopes at Glencoe and Nevis right now! It's a case of hide behind the curtains until Sunday and see what's left. Pity because we have high pressure coming in on Sunday, and snow showers higher up. Why do we have to have a monsoon in between. P.S Winter is not over. The charts are looking like cooling down next week with frosts.
  6. Think that's it folks. Although once the gaps appear and temps drop. Some of us might get a few snow showers. I think winter is over for the moment. Might get something later in March.
  7. Heavy wet snow. Temperature dropped 2c from Polmont to Maddiston.
  8. Dreaded that Cheggers...could see it on the cams. Interesting that the temperature is dropping though!
  9. Biggrey how high up are you. Always good to know these things, for snow prospects for other folk. Can't always tell from the motorway cams as they are hit and miss for seeing snow.
  10. Light drizzle and frozen windscreen. Non event so far.
  11. Damn whits going on. It gets heavy then stops!
  12. Light snow here. Should get at least an hours worth out of the blob.
  13. I agree. April snow is more nuisance value at lowland levels. Usually lasts until the afternoon. Too much daylight and sun in April. March can deliver deep snow. It can last as the nights can still produce enough frost to sustain it.
  14. Yep could see us getting some intense cold next week if projections are correct. There is even a hint of a straight northerly late next week!
  15. Well back to work tomorrow after a disasterous ski trip. Managed 1/4 at Glencoe. The other 3 days at Aonach Mhor were stormbound. Loads of snow but too windy for uplift. We managed some walks instead, but the sleet and rain meant we got soaked to the skin. Rannoch Moor was incredible with about a foot of snow in places. I hear Glencoe got 25 inches in two days, and huts look buried again! Could be a long season this year once he wind calms down.
  16. At Nevis lifts on hold till 10am.Snow here rain in Fort William. Lowland snow chance is for tonight anyway.
  17. YeP It's what's known as a brain fart. Anyway supposed to be skiing at Nevis Range tomorrow. Might get a morning, before the day after tomorrow weather arrives. Glencoe was mobbed today.
  18. At Glencoe blue sky's and powder snow.
  19. Well looks like I will get to Ski Saturday and maybe Sunday morning at Nevis. Will definately not be skiing on Monday or Tuesday! Ferkin wind!
  20. My eyes may have deceived me. It looked like sleet in Glasgow when I was out at lunchtime! Temp dropped from 8.5c to 6c in the showers.
  21. Ravelin it sounds like you had a reasonable wee trip. I always go on these expecting the worst so any skiing is a bonus. I have been lucky in the past and managed to ski Coe/Nevis/Cairngorm and Shee all in one 5 day trip with one half day washout. I suppose it's really the wind that stops uplift! The wind is due to pick up on Sunday!
  22. My Ski trip up north begins on Saturday. Blue skies and powder by the looks of it. However we have this horrible 36 hour mild spell to get through, overnight and up to midnight on Wednesday. The rain will revert to snow on Thursday. So whatever they lose lower down should be replaced in theory! Saturdays high at 3000ft is -6c!
  23. Phantom flusher...same one that stole our snow!
  24. More snow for the mountains today and Sunday/Monday Hopefully my wee 4 day ski trip to Glencoe/Nevis next week will be good.
  25. I agree Northern. March is a winter month. I have a feeling we might get some good snow late Feb early March!
