  1. Correct but even they are running a couple of degrees below normal, Lisbon & Pisa for example have had a cooler than average summer.
  2. What is interesting in this area is that (Thorney Island) my nearest station had a higher maximum and average temperature for July 2014 than July 2013, whilst I was in the Netherlands during the 21st-26th, when Thorney Island achievied 28-29C for 3 days in a row, the weather was the same over in Rotterdam, and yet I'd still rate July 2013 higher, the sunshine amounts were higher, as was the number of days above 25C. I think the reason for the higher maximums was that at the start of July, temperatures were warm whilst they were quite cool at the start of July 2013.
  3. 25C here and quite humid, been high twenties all week at home and where I was in The Netherlands earlier this week, a very good summer so far and consistent since early june, I do wonder if NW Europe is in a above average summer pattern mid/late decade similar to the 90s (1994-1999) and 00s (2003-2006) were, either way it's been an enjoyable summer so far.
  4. Still 23C here, windows open but this is what is summer is about, the models show no signs of cool down either.
  5. thunder and lightning going on for the past 15 minutes here, good lightshow with the occasional loud crackle of thunder.
  6. No storms yet but got caught in a heavy downpour 10 minutes ago and just 1/2 mile to the west in Angmering it's light rain, right on the western edge of the rain band.
  7. 38-39C upwards is too hot for me, below 22C is too cold in summer if cloudy with a wind, below 18C if sunny/calm, haven't exprienced below -7 but I would imagine I would feel too cold with only one coat below -9.
  8. 25C now, highest temperature of the year so far and feeling very warm even in the shade.
  9. Truly beautiful GFS run, surely the best of the summer so far with the azores high fully in charge and hot air being pumped from the south and south west, caution must be taken with whats being shown in FI as usual, but certainly some very warm weather coming up next week.
  10. The late 90s were very mild around here and with no snow in 1998 or 1999, however this might just be the mildest and least snowiest since at least 99/00, with very few frosts and hasn't gotten below -1C, 07/08 was also very mild but March and April made up for it.
  11. Looks like E.Hampshire and Chichester are getting hit hard, some nice light shows here in the night sky from the t-storm out west.
  12. Woke up to a huge crash of lightning, and torrential rain as well, stopped now but it's pretty dramatic out there this morning.
  13. Some impressive bright lightning here between 12:30-12:45PM, quiet for the last 10 minutes though.
  14. A fantastic month, not quite as good as July 2006, but level with July 1999, overall though very pleased with July 2013.
  15. Lovely day here, 28.1C over in Glastonbury area here today, oh yeah and it's my 1000th post!
  16. 17.9C, a warm/hot first half and an average second half.
  17. Jeez, had some very heavy showers here tonight, still 17C though.
  18. Not a bad evening, wasn't that thundery but we got a few strikes and rumbles, rain was quite heavy but nothing too crazy, still feeling fairly humid outside even though it's 17C, nice.
  19. Much warmer than forecast here, already 25.3C, feeling very warm and sunny.
  20. Wow, incredible GFS this evening, more runs needed but wow, I'm quite stunned by what it's showing, tomorrow is going to be interesting.
  21. Pretty nice day here today, currently 23.4C and feeling quite warm.
  22. Sunny with highs in the 25-36C range, holding up into the upper/mid 20s into the evening, overnight minimum of 19-21C, maybe a storm during night-time.
