  1. I'll copy my post from the last thread as I was naughty and posted it after we were told to move here Thats true but the midlands is somewhat of a stalling point. It heads northeast, stops, then starts moving south east. So effectively it'll last atleast 2x as long over us I think.
  2. Really someone give this radar a kick up the butt, it's totally wrong from where i'm sitting.
  3. Check the NMM or NAE! Not to shabby at all if you ask me..
  4. 18z NMM looking very tasty for Birmingham, Leicester, Northampton and all the way east. Though Leicester looks like the northern most extent we are right on the edge of snow or sleet according to the NMM.
  5. Yep.. looking beautiful ! I'm a bit cautious of that though. Not even nowcasting with the radar is proving reliable for me. Should of been raining for an hour now. Still nothing. Uhh yeah bit it hit cornwall over 6 hours ago !
  6. Wow, alot of people watching. More people should post.. the more input and weather reports the better
  7. Radar isn't very reliable for me tonight. Should of been fine/light rain for the past 20 minutes, so far nothing.
  8. That was me. I somehow calculated it as being 60hours, not 6 I guess i should times it by 10 then. So 8mph. Still wrong !
  9. True, precipitation is heading more northwards right up into the more northern parts of east midlands at one point. But the snow/rain graph doesn't show any snow at the same time, a bit odd. But yes a good chunk of snow showing prior to that. Definitely an upgrade
  10. Yeah, MetO don't predict rain till 3am for me in Leicester, but it's only 50miles away on the radar. 50 miles in 6hours according to them. 0.8mph roughly ? that seems incredibley slow. Radar Precipitation type looking.. decidely rainy I don't see pink(snow) until north of leeds.
  11. According to my thermometer its 6c. What!!! Must be wrong. But i've never seen it out by more than 0.5c yet. It's just one of those cheap plastic garden thermometers with the red liquid in them.
  12. I need to set up a better light source to view snow particles. I used to use my 200milliwatt green laser, onfucus it so the beam was about 2meters wide at 100meters and shine it up into the sky. Any snow flakes reflected an intense green flash of light back at me great stuff, though I think the neighbors thought I was a little crazy. Said lasers diode has burnt out.. now I have a lousy 1w LED torch with no focusing head. Need to figure something out quick.
  13. Nowcasting and Radar watching is always great fun. Just wish it would hurry up and arrive. I know it's not supposed to start snowing until the early hours, but atleast if it started raining soon I could convince myself that it could turn to snow
  14. Oh they are new streetlamps. But my council decided to save money by turning half of the ones on the sidestreet off at 1am, and then all of them off except 1 at each road corner by 3 or 4am. The main road through my village is fully lit for safety.
  15. Annoyingly they turn the street lights out here after about 4am which is when its set to start snowing. Am i really going to have to resort to strapping a torch to my head ? Looks that way.
  16. Yeah that sounds about right, I have learnt over time If leicesters not right after the edge of snow the forecast is wrong
  17. Can us Leicester folk join you in this anger/dissapointment ? We were very dry too. Yes that is a lot of precipitation, but it doesn't just continue north. I think it does something like this... Hope that makes sense.
  18. I wish these things arrived at a better time Either during the day after 9am when i'm awake, until about 3am before I go to bed. But what time does the snow start ? between 3am and 9am I guess i'll be pulling an all nighter ! I hope some of you join me, keep it entertaining Fortunately, my university time table is empty for Friday. Day off for me.
  19. Wouldn't call it decent. But it's okay if your happy with just seeing snow. According to the 12z UKMO the whole of the midlands is only going to see light precip. Though these precip charts tend to suck, half the time they bare little resemblence to the radar.
  20. NMM much the same. Slight upgrade in a way, ever so slightly further north, precip seems to colide with cheshire gap late morning. Still, only light snow at most for the leicester/northampton areas mainly. The only real positive I can see is that most of the models on the 12z seem to agree on a very slightly further north track, so perhaps it will track even further slightly north on the 18z when it's just about to hit. Just clutching at straws, but one can hope
  21. NMM is by far the best compared to NAE, GFS. Still need it another 20 to 50miles north though for where me and a few others are.
  22. GFS and NAE 12z are pretty similar to 06z. As expected, should be pretty much nailed by now. Looks like leicester and other cities nearbye will receiving a dusting and little else.
  23. Just woke up, read this thread, looked at NAE output, put head on desk and weeped a few tears Nah not really - but i could've ! This happens pretty much every single time, could and did spot this happening a mile off. Still, GFS holds a little hope, and still just about in the warning area for MetO. I'll still be radar watching
