  1. I'm hearing many short distant rumbles to the south - too tired to go out so I'm hoping it'll make landfall soon 0016 - looks like a late one but its looking good - just seen an overhead flash - getting a headache and the seagulls are moaning
  2. Can't seem to edit my post!!! 2332 - just seen an in cloud flash over Hastings way from my window (and slight rumble 20 secs later) they are still developing it seems 2350 - radar seems to show some dissipation so less chances of lightning now!
  3. Just had a moderate rain shower...keeping my eye outside incase that cell behind decides to make landfall near me...looks like it may track via Hastings / Rye area - seems to have developed in the last hour or so OMG it may be heading for me 2300 MO radar suggests so...other smaller cells breaking out ahead of it! maybe one flash or so...was walking back half hour ago looking out to the Channel and swear I saw a distant flash
  4. Had a big flash of lightning just NE of me followed by big rumble at 1800....accompanied by hail and heavy rain before (merged showers?)....I almost gave up and then boom! Anyone who was at the Fatboy Slim @ Brighton event would've got a soaking!
  5. Hello everyone Just been on Eastbourne seafront / beach near the Wish Tower watching various storms and special effects from 8.30pm to 10.30pm. Best storm night out in ages...many people on the beach watching it all and I even chatted with some people! I experienced: A pink sunset rainbow - in the background you can see the underside / back end of that large MCS that moved up the Dover Strait early this evening Various mammatus and turbulant air clouds Extremely strong winds and gusts caused by downdraughts Sudden changes in wind direction and air temperature....all of a sudden the wind changed and became very warm....amazing feeling!!! Loads of cloud to cloud and cloud to ground strikes over the English Channel watched by me and others with mobile phones recording it....although having to wait a good few mins between strikes..... very little or no thunder / rain....most activity was in the Channel itself I managed to capture some 3GP video (use Quicktime) on my Samsung D500 of some lightning strikes (first time)...you'll find a great strike at 45 seconds in on 0005 and 1min 40 seconds on 0006.....amazing horizontal lightning strikes.....just zips across . The video is looking towards Holywell / Beachy Head (you'll see South Downs cliff edge on right) The pink sunset rainbow B) MR CB A wonderful night thank you video_0005.3gp video_0006.3gp
  6. Big thunderstorm here in Eastbourne 11.35am with torrential hail....big deep rumbles.....came over very fast almost without warning...........took me by surprise I was expecting them this afternoon!! That was close I'm off my compter now! It's over but still developing and heading out to sea Hastings direction
  7. Near the seafront 2 minutes from the pier........I grew up down the road from Stone Cross Showers now moving in from the sea.....not thunder as of yet
  8. Another big flash towards Brighton but too much low cloud cannot see any forked lightning.......rain is steady and winds are quite fresh still too quiet I was expecting it to be more frequent strike wise Just seen an amazing lightning folk light up the sky for a few seconds.........main strikes must me still a good few miles away.........terrible headache btw
  9. Massive flash of Lightning here as I type......................large roar of thunder seems to be slowly heading this way..............quite infrequent tho about a one strike every few mintues Callie whereabouts near Eastbourne are you?
  10. Yeah I seem to get them when a storm is about. good inicator tho
  11. Large active thunderstorm now coming up the channel heading towards Hastings / Rye. I can hear constant thunder and sky is quite dark. Also have splitting headache!
  12. Small thunderstorm now moving in here at Eastbourne, rain is already coming down. Seems these storms are still developing near south coast WOW Massive rumble of thunder!!
  13. You lucky thing I've had absoultely nothing even Brighton had two storms looks like another disappointing year again for me. So many let downs last year what wiv them disappating. Again this evening they are all fizzling out.
  14. The warning doesn't mention East or West Sussex so I'm not really expecting anything. Shame. I live on the coast too so my chances are even lower I guess. That warning wasn't on there when I last posted. Seems that they are sure where the snow is actually heading. Most of it seems to be heading to the north / north east of me.
  15. Well no snow here on the south coast. A few cars have a light dusting where it fell inland overnight. It's sunny and clear here but a tad cold. THE MET OFFICE have issued an severe weather alert for East Anglia at 12.09pm saying an area of heavy snow is likely to arrive this afternoon. Accumlations in places. Have checked radar and it seems to be heading that way. N-NW direction. Looks like it'll miss us in the south east completely. Is the cloud thickening there anyone?
  16. Location - Eastbourne Temperature - 18 degrees celsius Clouds - Strato & Alto Cumuli Wind - W-SW Humidity - 88% UV Index - ? Precipitation - Nil Time - 15.32 Oi  GlennWrench shouldn't it be copy and paste I can't cut it from there! Mr CB (Developing an anvil over Southern France)
