  1. Changing back to snowflakes now, still with some icy stuff mixed in though.
  2. Yeah could be, although this seems a little icier and not as white. whatever it is it's still laying and not melting the snow cover
  3. It's not rain and not quite snow - more in between, hence icy rain I always thought sleet was a rain/snow mix but this is more like soft ice if that makes sense?
  4. After a period of heavy snow covering roads and pavements it's turned to icy rain. Temp 0.5C dp -0.2C Probably a couple of cm on the ground.
  5. I hope the second band catches up with the first and injects some energy or else we won't be getting much more than a little light snow and a wet floor!
  6. Good morning Overnight low of -3.9C Currently -0.6C dp -4.5C Overcast and dry
  7. Clear skies for the first time in a wee while which is reflected in the current temp @ -2.5C How low can we go?
  8. Temp still falling away down to -0.5C a drop of 1.5 degrees in the last hour.
  9. Temp dropping quickly under clearing skies 0.8C with dp -3.7C
  10. I wonder if the Met Office will update the current warnings for Friday's event later today. Last warning was issued at midday yesterday.
  11. Good morning. Only managed an overnight low of -1.8C due to cloud cover. Currently 1.1C and overcast.
  12. It needs to drop below -5.1C to beat the current minimum IMBY for this winter. Quite possible if skies stay clear.
  13. -1.5C here dropped 0.5 in the last 20 mins if the sky stays clear -5C shouldn't be a problem, perhaps lower with snow still on the ground
  14. Looking at the latest BBC graphics they now show rain near to the coast as the front moves in on Friday. So I doubt us guys in the West of the region will see 'Monster snow'. Looks like it could be more of an event for the East of the region and those on the other side of the hills. With the sky beginning to clear overnight temps will get much lower than of late, dp's are still low and with a bit of luck we'll have some decent cold uppers still in place when the Atlantic starts to move in. I'm hopeful of seeing some snow but maybe somewhere in the region of 2-5cm rather than 15-20cm.
  15. Not much, just said 2-5cm with 10cm on the hills. Didn't go into any great detail as per usual.
  16. This is the 6th consecutive day with snow falling here. Just a shame that 2m temps have been a little too high, allowing the snow to thaw. If temps had stayed around or below freezing we would easily have had about 20cm of snow on the ground. Still, quite a snowy period overall Currently: 2C with light snow
