  1. My dp has actually dropped 0.1 of a degree in the last hour. Hopefully it's a continuing trend. Just wish these flakes would get bigger. The snows coming down quite heavy but the flakes are miniscule. It's a slow process but the wet ground is starting to turn white.
  2. Snow starting to get a bit heavier and the flakes a little bigger. Still quite a bit of melting going on of any lying snow, dripping from the shed roof. I think it was always going to be a battle to get the snow laying on lower ground. If the snow can persist with decent intensity hopefully a decent cover will build through the day. Temp 0.7C dp -0.9C
  3. Not exactly a winter wonderland here this morning. Can't tell if we had a covering and then it's melted or more likely; the ppn has struggled to lay on wet surfaces. We have a covering on the grass, roads and pavements have a very thin cover in places but mostly slushy or wet. The snow is rather light, smallish flakes. Current temp 0.8C dp -0.8C
  4. Yeah looking at the radar I'd say the heavier stuff currently giving snow cover in Wrexham and Mold should be hitting us in within the next couple of hours. I hope I wake to a blanket of white!
  5. Light snow still blowing in the wind and dampening the ground. I think I'll hit the hay and see what tomorrow brings. Current temp 1.7C dp -3.0C Easy on the beer Dave Mac, you need to be able to enjoy the snow tomorrow
  6. snow starting to pick up the intensity a bit here. Nothing laying yet and still small flakes but coming down fast - especially in the strong wind.
  7. It's snowing but due to the strength of the wind it's hard to gauge how much is falling when looking at the lampost If the wind carries on as it is, we may end up with 6ft drifts against east facing walls and virtually nothing anywhere else!
  8. A few flakes just started blowing in the wind. Temp. 2.2C dp -3.5C And blowing a gale!
  9. Certainly a wild one tonight. I posted a map before for current max wind speed gusts here's the link: http://www.weatheronline.co.uk/weather/maps/current?LANG=en&UP=0&R=310&CEL=F&SI=mph&TYP=windspitzen&ART=kartealle&LANG=en&DATE=1363896000&KEY=UK&LAND=UK&CONT=euro&SORT=2&UD=0&INT=24
  10. Same down the road here Darren. Gusting to over 50 mph. If the snow sets in over the next few hours I don't think the blizzards will only be reserved for the hills!
  11. Thanks for the info. I hope it turns to snow soon for you. I think you'll still be getting a good covering from this event.
  12. Currently 2.7C dp -3C I'd imagine by the time the ppn arrives around midnight (perhaps a little earlier) the temp will be below 2C add to that the effect of the ppn which will cool and lower the air temperature, then I'd hazard a guess the temp will be somewhere between 0-1C. That wind is howling, certainly bordering on gale force gusts!
  13. The wind really starting to pick up outside now. Latest wind gust speeds over the UK:
  14. Just walked back from the gym and it really feels bitter outside with a strong Easterly breeze that cuts right through you. Certainly feels cold enough for snow. Current temp. 3C dp -3.8C
  15. Ian F just now talking about Amber upgrades expected this morning with Exeter worried regards possible totals of 75cm in North Wales!! That would be unreal!! *edit* probably for the mountains but heck, that is a serious dumping of snow. Kind of reminds me of the NE USA blizzard, earlier this year.
  16. Will be interesting to see the updated weather warnings later this morning after Ian F mentioned discussion at Exeter last night, regards Amber upgrades for some areas.
  17. Thanks Glenn. Indeed it highlights the stall position of the front and the chance of 10cm+ on Saturday is between 50-70% for the region. Yes, it looks like it won't be until the afternoon tomorrow when the heavier precip. arrives according to latest Met Office forecasts. So many places might have light snow falling during the morning with not much laying.
  18. Warning level 10 and chance of 10cm+ 90-100% And that's just for Friday, do you have Saturdays's Glenn?
  19. BBC national weather forecast just now looked good for the region *edit* If you like snow that is!
  20. A very delicate position to be in IMBY nestled in the testes.
  21. All within 36hrs now but for the Northwest 36hrs is still firmly in the realms of FI! If things are looking the same by the morning I'll start to be a bit more confident. Remember the last time the region was placed under an Amber Warning, I believe it was around 36 hrs from the event (maybe less) and most of the region was removed completely from the Warning Area!
