i wont be hard lets face it they havent even got a complete stadiumsome missing
England notoriously underachieve against part-timers like San Marino. The more the better as this group could easily come down to goal differences.
I'll go 9-0
-
lol who cares
Not a football fan I take it?
Make that 5-0
-
Cracking goal from Ashley Young, 4-0 lets have 10!

Just been on the beer run for the football and the main roads are getting bad, not sure if they've been gritted today, perhaps due to all the surface water of melting snow it's been washed away?
But certainly coming down heavy albeit smallish flakes and really unpleasant with the strong wind driving the snow.
Accumulations building now on all surfaces and like I said including the major roads.

Just tried to upload some pics but getting a message telling me the file is too big. I could upload the same file size this morning, direct from the memory card but not now?
Anybody have an ideas why? Or how do I reduce the size?
Many thanks B_M

Anyone in the Oldham area record wind speed?, Im interested to know how strong it has been there today / this evening
Check this link for current wind speed gusts

Just isn't giving in here. Continuous. Not heavy but moderate, I think this is going to last a few hours.
Drove through Billinge earlier Dave and about 3 times as much snow in your neck of the woods than here. I think the extra 50m elevation and being slightly West from my location has made a big difference. We have a covering again now just about to post some pics.

Just over the border in Flintshire we're taking a real hammering now. 25cms of snow and coming down at 2 to 3cms an hour. What's very odd is that there's hardly any wind now.
Pete
Thanks Pete.
Are you at a decent elevation?

How much snow is there depth wise? There seems to be next to no reports so far on this thread, it seems the precipitation has been over the NW since late last night so I would of thought there'd be some sizable accumulations.
Most of the posts in this thread have been commenting on the lack of accumulating snow around the region. At my location we have had falling snow most of the night and most of the day but apart from on the grass it's struggled to settle. The ground has been far too wet and only in heavier bursts has it started to stick; only for it to melt when the ppn stops or loses intensity. Quite frustrating really.
Currently have a couple of inches on favoured grassy areas and about a cm or 2 on concrete surfaces, still some melting going on due to the saturated ground underneath.
Current temp. 0.2C
dp -0.9C
Light snow
-
Really starting to come down here now and been blown in all directions by the strong breeze. Starting to stick to the wet ground again as the light fades. Hopefully this intensity will be maintained for a while and we can finally start to build a decent cover.
Temp aperas to have dropped a degree in 20 minutes - down to 0C with dp -1.0C

This is it so far, any chance of more or shall I give up? Just been to Oldham and there's nowt
Excellent. I bet you have remained below freezing all day at 1000ft. Even at around 1C here all day, the snow has really struggled to stick. I think for lowland areas our best chance will come over night if we can get the temps down and keep up the ppn.
With the amount of standing water around, if the temp. does drop below freezing it will be very hazardous to say the least.

There's a lot more snow on the ground in Billinge than there is here. Wet pavements and slushy deposits on the grass here. Billinge looks to have a few inches and some nice drifts. Amazing what 40 or 50m extra elevation will do for you in this situation.
-
Any reports from the Isle of Man? I imagine Snaefell and the higher parts of Isle of Man are really copping it.
Local news mentioned a coastal road closure on the IOM.
-
Just measured 17cm lying snow in Mold, NE Wales. Can't get out of my drive. This is at 125m asl. It's at 2010 levels at the moment. All the schools shut.
Wow, you've certainly been hit hard! Amazing really the difference in only say 50 miles. We have maybe a couple of inches on the grass and a couple of cm's on the pavements, a lot of which is quite slushy.
-
Snow getting lighter here now, very small flakes again.
They keep talking about heavy snow on the news but I certainly wouldn't class the snow as heavy in this area, moderate at times but not quite in the heavy bracket.
-
Temperature down to 0.3C dp -0.7C
Moderate snow with a mix of 5p and 20p sized flakes. Roads and pavements have a covering now. Very wet ground underneath so if the snow stops I think there will be a rapid thaw.
lets hope it continues and we can build a decent cover.
-
Looking better for those around the Manchester area as the gaps in the ppn seem to be filling in
-
Just seen a pic on the BBC news taken in Wrexham, the car in the pic looked to have at least 6 inches of snow on its roof!
-
Certainly getting whiter outside and the temp. and dp are beginning to fall, down to 0.4/-1.1C from 0.7/-0.9C 20 minutes ago.
