    Wind roaring here, thought was a plane in trouble flying low but nowt on flightradar and the noise continued. Husband had to move car because last big storm bits of the roof flew off and just missed it. Hope you all stay safe warm and cosy tonight Kilties!

    My daughter was born in the middle of a snowstorm at 4am. All very nice but the midwife was Australian and had never seen snow... she threw the room windows wide open and let all the cauld and snaw in. It's a wonder I didnt get pneumonia!

    Half eight Sunday morning and the Shetland webcams showing a full -on blizzard! Great stuff.

    I moved 30 miles south (in Scotland) but from 300m above sea level, to 82 m. I have gained a full month at the beginning of summer and another one at the end. Gobsmacking but very welcome! It felt like Gardening in Provence the first summer!

    Freezing fog here all day. I never feel cold much but this morning in Jedburgh I was chilled to the bone, and the husband's angina came back - after 3 heart attacks and a triple bypass he says he just canny believe it. I'm telling him the fog itself is lethal nevermind the cold.

    Minus 7.8 this morning here and lying snow still lying and turning to concrete. Never been above freezing for 3 days.

    Woke up to an orange sky then down it came! Not an awful lot but first real snowfall of the year and it got heavier later on. Son said Soutra was slippy. EDIT - the snaw came down, not the sky. Yet.

    Foties in the Shetland fb group this morning, a light covering of snaw in Lerwick last night. Down here at the bottom end we're still mildish but temp is dropping a bit. I wish we had proper winter weather doon here, I miss Heriot and the moors and sheep and hawks and snaw. Starting to feel a bit claustrophobic as time goes on.

    Fishman reports that in 30 years of driving around the borders, this morning was the worst black ice he's ever encountered. He says from Eyemouth to Coldstream was pure murder.
