  1. Just caught up - you lot can blether! Odd reading about all the rain and sleet, we havent had anything falling from the sky at all. Yesterday started off crisp and cold and bright and went dank and dull but notta drop of anything. This morning everything's white again - can't see if its heavy frost or slight snaw overnight.
  2. Thick white frost here but I think maybe it snowed a wee bit overnight and that's now frozen over. Very cold and birdbath a chunk of solid ice. Wee blackie will miss his daily bath. Not leaving the hoose, steepish cul de sac and looks far too icy. Maybe the cooncil will come and put grit down for us. Love all your snaw pics!
  3. No idea of the temp but it's definitely cauld. Wee village shop posted on fb no papers delivered today as the roads are sheet ice. Had only a few flakes of snaw yesterday, maybe more tomorrow. Can somebody give me the link to that site that shows snow coverage for the northern hemisphere?
  4. Won't get excited, doon here we don't seem to have weather at all. I too would love to know what's in them lorries..just cos I'm nosy. Getting ready for the major news trumpeting Snowmageddon when England gets 3 cms. Puffy's daughter came to see me and handed in his precious weather station - he had left instructions for her to give us it. She was lovely and gave me a wee card about his life etc that they had used at the funeral. Quite an impressive man, we were lucky to know him Kilties.
  5. Speaking as a mainly-housebound auld bat down here near Jedburgh, I do enjoy & appreciate this forum and all of you lot! You let me see the bits of Scotland I miss so much and the talk of flying to exciting places that I always wanted to see, like Norway and the Alps, cheers me up no end. Thanks Kilties and keep on blethering And I so miss the old hoose up on the moors and covered in snaw. But not that much
  6. You lot up in the north east certainly get very different weather to me down here in the south east. I'm not complaining though, you can keep that wind & rain up there.
  7. Awh lovely HC - stay alive to enjoy her growing up. Stay off the roads!
  8. Been really fabulous few days here and another beautiful morning today. Was mist lying further down along the Teviot and the sun was a huge ball of pale gold shining through. Great start to the day. Washing oot already.
  9. I don't know about mild, but I'm sure my roof is coming off. This is worse than Arwen, very scary! I hate high winds.
  10. White this morning and still white now the sun is up. Clear blue skies and looking lovely.
  11. We have a forecast (BBC) for 18mhp winds until 3 o'clock, then 42mph. I have to tell you it's like a hurricane ootside already and if its goin to get worse then I'm off. That tree out the back is giving me the heejie jeebies.
  12. We had 3 wee girl guisers at the door here, very polite. One was carrying a very luxurious thick white brocade tablecloth over her arm, very queen of Sheba-ish. I asked what she was meant to be and got "a ghost, but I forgot to cut the eyeholes out". I've been sniggering ever since
  13. Odd day yesterdsy, we had it all. Apart from sleet & snaw. Mid afternoon it was bright blue skies red gold trees and warm, then a wind swirled out of nowhere blew all all the elaves down and the sky turned pewter. Odd.
  14. I think down in this wee corner of Scotland we're shielded from the problems on the roads now. Apart from the constant miles of 20mph limits that are the pits. This summer I've had two lots of visitors up from England and both were gobsmacked at the empty roads and the speed one girl got her puncture fixed. And, I have to add, the polite and friendly people in Jedburgh and Kelso. I was even more proud of Scotland than usual this summer One poor soul was scared to go up the closes off Jed High St in case she got mugged and was amazed to see the Tweed wasnt full of shopping trollies.. she is from Morecambe. Which I've never visited and never want to now Weatherwise it has been strangely warm and wet on and off. Not awful/not great.
  15. Yet another day here starting off wet and miserable but clearing fast to sun. Great weather here. I have to admit that I quite like the windmills, they add a wee extra to the landscape. Big one slap bang on top of Dere Street up on Soutra, and I often wonder if the ghosts of the Legions march past and wonder
  16. Torrential showers here tonight and I dono what happened earlier but the wind picked up out of nowhere and roared - we thought it was a jet ort thunder but was the wind.
  17. Ah that's great!I wonder if I should get the husband to the vet, he seems to have a bit of the staggers too lately. Like a weebly, just keeps falling over. I think nowadays you'd get better service from a vet, at least you could see one!! No rain here at all, mistyqueen move doon to Jedburgh!
  18. We had wind and rain early on but not really heavy - and by mid day it was blue sky and sun! Very windy though, everybody hung oot the washing. I really think we've landed lucky down here with weather. Daughter was stuck on a train fr Edinburgh to Inverness for ages due to bad weather. I said whereaboots are you and she said IN THE HIGHLANDS IN THE DARK The train before hers was cancelled and so hers was packed tight.
  19. Not cold here either, but first morning it's felt like winter somehow. Dark and windy, needed the kitchen light on.
  20. Gorgeous morning here, blue skies and the trees don't seem to be blowing about. When I've had another gallon of coffee I might even get off my ass and open the door to look properly. But lovely blue sky.
  21. Enjoying the pics - I miss the highlands but husband is too decrepit now to drive far and we don't go anywhere. Mair Snaw Perth is nice, that sounds sensible, and you're easily within reach of the hills anytime you want a wee wander in the snaw! NL when you post stories of calving it makes me wince. I must've been a coo in a past life
