    It's white in whaddon Sounds like theres a bit of a melt going on at the moment, the clouds are breaking up though so that should soon stop. That'll leave me with the joy of a journey to Aylesbury tomorrow morning with lots of ice. Might start a sweepy on cars in hedgerows.

    Just been to the door - 6 micro grains of snow fell in five minutes

    If you turn the "weather type" off on the radar you can see theres a thicker band of precip just over there now.

    Family in the mids just said it started about 40 mins ago, lightish but settling.

    Front edge of the precipitation band has just moved over my house according to the radar and.............. Nothing outside, yet I'll see your gog and raise you a flabber

    I'd guess the "blob" will deliver more than the initial front? Radar returns are thicker than those from the front at least;guess you guys might get lucky yet!

    Very few twitter reports of snow under the stuff coming in from the NW.

    Just been outside, cloud now much thicker than an hour ago; can't see Jupiter anymore.

    Best suggestion I've heard is to join whichever one appears most friendly plus the one in the direction the weather is coming from.

    MMMM, that'll make my journey to work a LOT faster (everyone else tends to stay at home:) )5 days? The models will no hold it captain! Need that bit of ridging to break down and get some nice cross polar flow set up.

    It's been sat there most of the day, only started extending south/south west over the last hour.

    Just taken a look at the NW radar. The first front appears to be coming more from the NNW than shown in the forecasts. Could that mean we get it a little later but heavier?

    Thats the one thats supposed to get to MK between 6 and 9 tonight, I think the one you're referring to is lurking behind it.

    Head and Shoulders moment? Preparations done here, Port on coffee table, bird feeders full, drive gritted, radiators bled, boiler oil level checked, outside taps covered, new bulb in outside light............we'll now get two snowflakes here

    I took my car on a wet handling day at Rockingham a couple of months ago, great fun but convinced me NOT to go out in a rear wheel drive car with wide tyres and 400+bhp in the snow! I'll stick with the C1 or Disco if we get too much. Or the E30 Cold, little bit of an air frost here today; nice clear skys first thing but some light cloud around now.

    i agree. I bet the solution would be to throw more money at the models though. I have a limited understanding but personally believe this wouldn't make that much difference. What appears to be missing is data. They're having to forecast current conditions before they even start to run the models, that can't be good. Might give myself a little project to see how different those initial conditions are for each model

    turned off to save server resources. They've suggested adding location to signatures.
