I see, should be a very interesting drive down there! I'd imagine the thaw will be underway by 12pm tomorrow though.Yes i cant see any reason why it wont go ahead as not Snowing here.
-
Does that mean the Macclesfield-Wigan game is likely to be on tomorrow? Supposed to be making the trip down there tomorrow.Have to say Macclesfield must be the only place in the North west that is not having snow.
-
Yet still we're in the yellow warning zone.
-
The flakes are just so big. I have genuinely seen some nearly as big as potato waffles come down. I hope this lasts for a while, it would make my winter.
-
This is the heaviest snow I have ever seen right now. I'm actually awe-struck.
-
Big mixture of ice/snow/rain/graupel coming down. Shame this isn't all snow, it would have been brilliant!
-
-
Still the same light drizzle falling at the moment. None of the snow has melted though, hopefully with heavier precipitation it'll return to being snow.
-
Plain old rain/drizzle at the moment here. It isn't melting the snow though, hopefully we'll get some snow from the heavy precipitation moving north and intensifying now form just south of us.
-
are you sure that's rain? Had a look outside and it seems when the wind isn't blowing it's falling as snow but looks like rain when the wind is strong.Maybe in the heavier ppn but doesn't look good.
-
any chance of it turning back to snow later or is that it for us?After a period of heavy snow covering roads and pavements it's turned to icy rain.
Temp 0.5C dp -0.2C
Probably a couple of cm on the ground.

Anything red on the radar starts to breaks up just as it starts to hit Wigan. Is there any reason for that?
-
The radar is showing the heaviest bits of snow just to the east of me and just to the west of Me. What are the chances of that?!
Still coming down heavy though.
-
That area just off the coast of Wales, that is insane. Wow.
-
I have a funny feeling tomorrow will just about sum up this cold spell being honest. Has there been a single snow event that hasn't had a big fat load of disappointment attached to it during this spell?
I'm insanely jealous of more or less everywhere else in the country right now!
-
Gutting to see such big flakes falling but not sticking. I'm sick of this cold spell now, to be honest it's just been disappointment after disappointment.
-
Heavy snow here with massive flakes. Not sticking though.
-
I don't think we'll get the full band, the area just hitting Stoke should get to us though I'd imagine.Do you think it will actually get here?
-
Is there any chance of the temperature dropping anytime soon? Still at 2°C with 0° dew point. Not brilliant with this band hitting us soon.
-
Just took the dog out for a walk in the snow, around 8cm on the ground in the fields with some even bigger drifts. Not bad seeing as we've had a couple of days with temperatures above 2°C!
-
That day in Feb was so frustrating here. I remember seeing it belting it down with snow in Manchester on TV whereas here just a few miles west in Wigan we had rain and sleet. I also remember my toes nearly falling off from standing in the DW Stadium for 3 hours in that horrible mess! Not a great day overall!I concur, though last winter where I am we had an inch or so at the end of the cold snap in feb.All in all for me this winter is about the same-disappointing.
-
If the temperature rises to the heights it did today (around 2.7°C) it could be the end of our snow cover tomorrow. I'm quite bored of this spell now, it just isn't really working for us. This morning was brilliant, but by around 2pm it had all become a bit slushy away from paths and grass. Thankfully our road kept a lot of what had fell on it but most other roads and trees had lost their snow cover. I think another period of higher temperatures tomorrow could melt the majority of it.
On Friday, we had a decent amount but by Saturday that had also started to thaw. This cold spell just isn't giving us anything that stays in tact for more than a few hours and the temperatures aren't that low. I'm happy for it to move on now with hopefully a N/NE in a few weeks time which should give us more longevity and lower temperatures. If there isn't another cold spell and this is it for winter 2012/13, at least IMBY it's been much better than 2011/12, which saw no lying snow whatsoever.

Visibility is decreasing all of the time! When does heavy snow become classed as a blizzard?
