Still 1cm here.
-
Settling mostly on anything away from walls, houses and trees. They seem to be more resistant to the cold.
-
Settling on everything now! 0.5cm so far.
-
Snow suddenly much heavier and settling on cars only. Temp 1c
-
100% snow now. Not settling but car roofs are not shiny anymore.
-
About 30% snow and 70% rain now. And improving quickly!
-
Rain here, 2.5c at 122m
-
Even though the GFS has a much worse looking pattern for cold, it still shows high pressure in the northern lattitudes so not a total disagreement.

Since the caldera is sinking, where would you say the top of the magma is below it or is that unknown?
-
Can see a sharp drop by the end of the chart from the link Allseasons-si provided. Interesting...
-
Moderately heavy rain with one lightning flash.
-
Gone dark again but nothing on radar. Interesting
-
There was clear rotation in this storm. I can confirm.Quick ok-ish shot of the view to the north about 20 mins ago
16:05 radar grab looks very interesting - hoping someone with a bit more knowledge can confirm the signature of the cell nr Bradford?

Strange. Some cumulus cloud is moving 90 degrees from alto cumulus above it. Bit eerie.

-
Sky is black to the west. Shame its going to miss
-
Can see the anvil of that system by the peak district to the south of me. Missed again >
Nothing else but blue sky.

evening all still looking like the first 2 weeks in august are going to be a wash out!!! if the fantasy world models are right
But in my honest opinion it seems the GFS likes to bulldose the UK with frontal systems and lows in FI quite regularly and even in the occasional case it does come off, the real world scenario is usually much more complex. Perhaps less flat and more variable in intensities. This is why I don't write weeks off in weather forecasting

Towers shooting up here suddenly

I never seem to get storms in spanish plume events. Maybe its because of the Peak District being in the way. If the wind veers south easterly, missing the peak district, storms almost certainly will happen here. Had 5 last year due to this but still haven't had a proper one this year yet.
-
Had nothing more than distant thunder since May. Very dissapointed! Not a single proper storm since then!
-
Almost nonstop thunder here but no lightening.
-
Do you think the storms will reach Yorkshire?

And yet the GFSP brings in cold on a westerly flow however weak. At this time of year it is harder than you think to avoid it.
