  1. And endless rain isn't something I find interesting. There is nothing interesting about a forecast like this. Not only is it boring but it's not usable either. It's the worst of both worlds.
  2. Most people don’t like rain when it lasts for days mate. I don’t think you’re going to convince anyone to appreciate that lol
  3. 12C at both Leconfield and Humberside airport now so I assume you ended up above 10C pretty comfortably in the end? A high of 12.6C here today, 12.7C yesterday. Nothing remarkable.
  4. Where has this awful forecast suddenly appeared from? No more sunshine and instead days on end of rain, possibly significant amounts with flooding. This is why autumn in the UK is depressing.
  5. Jobs in California pay way more than anything you’ll find in the UK, especially if you work in tech. You’ll have no difficulty finding 6 figure jobs over there depending on your sector and skills. But it is extremely expensive. I’d probably prefer Australia though if I was looking for a sunny & warm climate. The US has far too many deeply embedded social issues, and it’s too conservative & religious as well.
  6. Lucky. It’s easy to see why so many people yearn to live in California.
  7. 19 February last year was unexpected. Heavy snow thanks to evaporative cooling.
  8. Well, there is one particular aspect of autumn that I really enjoy - no bloody children everywhere!
  9. Exactly the point I’ve been making. In the US you see loads of people getting excited for autumn & looking forward to autumnal weather. In the UK we mostly dread it. It’s easy to see why when you compare our autumnal weather to theirs.
  10. Frequency of rain is more important than total rainfall. 100mm of rain on 6 days is better than 50mm of rain on 12 days. Brief heavy rainfall will always be better than prolonged light rainfall.
  11. I only like rain when it’s from thunderstorms or brief downpours. I hate frontal rain. Another reason why continental climates are so much better.
  12. Selfish Met Office denying our sunshine
  13. True. I know which trees you’re talking about. I think they’re poplars. Autumn sounds like an amazing season until you remember we live in the UK and not New Hampshire Still, the upcoming cooler period looks very sunny, so I’ll definitely enjoy that. Keep the rain and gales at bay for as long as possible.
  14. To be fair, the UK doesn’t do autumn foliage well. Never has done. We don’t typically get the vivid colours of New England, mostly just yellows. Some years we seem to get hardly any colours at all before they’re all blown off.
  15. Not surprised that February is the snowiest month for the UK. The coldest nights of the year on average occur in February too.
  16. Yes - on Sunday we were the unlucky ones with cloud, then yesterday it was NW England, and today large parts of SW England had gloom until the afternoon. But overall a cracking spell here with 5 consecutive days above 20C. No other October in the 21st century has managed that here. Quite sad that we won't see another 20C+ day until probably April at the earliest (maybe late March if we're lucky), but I suppose it had to end at some point. Friday - 20.4C Saturday - 23.3C Sunday - 20.7C Monday - 21.4C Tuesday - 22.5C
  17. The Met Office show the same, so maybe it will be right... I'll be fine with a cooldown if it's as sunny as that. Selfishly I'm happy to see that the main area of rain has trended south. Looks like the South Midlands and into SW England will see the brunt of it.
  18. Wtf? I haven't seen a forecast this sunny for ages.
  19. I like seasonality as well, my ideal climate would be somewhere in New England or parts of the Midwest. For me though there can be no in between - either I want proper cold and snowy winters, or I want it to be warm all year. I can’t find any joy or pleasure in our normal dreary winter weather. I genuinely think our winters are the most depressing in the world.
  20. All three CET stations probably record cooler minimums than Sheffield due to the urban heat island effect, while Stoneyhursrt will record cooler maximums as well. We record higher average temperatures than the CET zone as well (i.e June 2023 had an average temperature of 17.5C here compared to 17.0C for the CET zone).
  21. It’s the worst weather imo, chilly rain, yuck. Hate British winters
  22. I either want a proper cold & snowy winter, or a very warm & sunny winter. I have zero interest in a normal boring UK winter.
