  1. Doesn't look bad at all to me, at least here in Leeds. Plenty of sunshine on offer, probably a few showers too. Certainly no washout, and a massive improvement over the dross we had in October.
  2. Today was actually very nice here with plenty of sunshine. I didn’t realise I was one of the top posters on this thread. I apologise to everyone.
  3. The forecast for the next 7 days actually looks decent enough. Some sunshine is forecast every day except Saturday (which currently looks like a washout). Hopefully a sign of things to come. We just need average sunshine amounts and November will end up comfortably sunnier than October here.
  4. I will take mild & dry too. Really just anything that isn’t rain, rain and more rain!
  5. That one very wet day did account for a lot of Octobers rain, but we still had 17 days of rain here which is a lot (our average is 10).
  6. This October (157mm) was significantly wetter than October 2000 (115mm) here.
  7. Looking at the above sunshine stats for London & Coventry really hammers home how unbelievably dull October was here. We had around 60 hours - which is an abysmal 55% of the average, undoubtedly one of our dullest Octobers ever. We were so unlucky. Hopefully November is a better month.
  8. Today was actually quite nice - sunny spells and a high of 14C. More rain to come though, sigh.
  9. October finished on 156mm here. Astonishingly wet. And it's the second month this year to have over 100mm (after July). Crazy to get two exceptionally wet months so close to one another. Bearing in mind that not a single month of the year here exceeds 60mm of rain on average - our average annual rainfall is 603mm and I'm confident we've exceeded that comfortably already. I better not see anyone worrying about drought next year after a couple of dry months.
  10. I don’t remember ever losing power because of the weather to be honest. Closest I’ve come is losing the TV signal during thunderstorms lol
  11. There aren't many Octobers duller than this one here. Today demonstrates why - just band after band of rain stuck over us, always coinciding with the daytime, taking ages to clear. I think Yorkshire has had the worst luck in the country this month. Leeming (north of York) looks likely to finish the month at 59.7 hours, Leconfield (near Hull) at 62.1 hours. Atrociously dull, similar to a typical December or January.
  12. Our biggest fall of Nov/Dec 2010 was on the 1st of December. The streamer that had affected South Yorkshire moved north during the morning and gave us about 6 inches of snow (on top of the snow we already had) before dissipating in the afternoon. Leeds was in total chaos & all buses in the city were cancelled. We ended up with about a foot of snow, the deepest since 1995.
  13. It feels like a dreary spell of weather in January or something. Just horrible.
  14. Another dull, wet day here. Cold too, with a high of 9.1C. We are now at 147mm for the month & 17 days have recorded more than 1mm of rain. I am seriously fed up of this now.
  15. The south coast is pretty wet from October to January to be fair, though obviously not usually this wet.
  16. Did you encounter the infamous Florida Man? Florida Man - Wikipedia EN.M.WIKIPEDIA.ORG
  17. Most of England is warmer than Plymouth in the summer to be fair lol, at least in terms of maximum temperatures
  18. Plymouth is sunnier than London in every month of the year except July, August and December, and gets 58 more hours of sun on average over the course of the year. Plymouth does get way more rain though, probably makes it feel worse. Probably windier too.
  19. I definitely think our region has had the worst of the luck regarding cloud amounts this month compared to everywhere else. Today was a good example of that - just a few brief sunny spells here before sunset after an otherwise damp & dull day.
  20. Heck, if we stay at 61 hours, then October will end up being duller than both January and February!
  21. You’re right, only around 54 hours that month. I don’t remember October 2020 at all for some reason but it was obviously extremely dull. Still, we’re at around 61 hours, and I don’t see any sun in our forecast at all so I wouldn’t be surprised if we go no higher. That would make this October one of the dullest in the past 20 years. Our average is 108 hours.
  22. This could end up being one of the dullest Octobers in years here. A shocking lack of sunshine, especially compared to last October which was very sunny.
  23. Looks like snow cover should increase substantially across Scandinavia leading up to Halloween according to GFS...
  24. The average is 108 hours here. No chance of reaching that.
