  1. 950mb (Fax @ 949mb 12z @ T120 ) that is a deep depression , ECM 12z has aligned with the UKMO on the 12z , prior runs had it swinging up through Eire , all 3 models now in reasonable agreement That is one hell of pressure differential on the SE , South and Sw flanks , Isobars as tight as camels ar*e in a sandstorm , 10mb pressure differential over 70-80 miles , to quantify that; north wales coast to south wales coast is circa 135 miles , a typical F8 Westerly would be delivered from an 8mb pressure differential between north and south coasts of wales Edit: added Fax @ 120hrs
  2. Keeping a close eye on Thursday's proceedings with respect to UKMO , ECM & GFS for the track and intensity of this little fellow, circa 955mb is quite a rarity for the UK , a tad blowy for the Sw, and South of the M4
  3. Just for markyo https://youtu.be/swloMVFALXw?si=E2D6LB02YOzeQcfj
  4. For here as well Metwatch factoring in the October SSTs here, considerably warmer than Feb SSTs, will add to a warmer "feels like" temp,
  5. That said baddie that date was epic for here , pre covid I was working in Hemel H two week stretches only returning home every other weekend so would have missed that epic day here .. thanks .. and spot on , probably one of the best feb days for sun and warmth here .. ever Tues (Mardi) 26th of Feb 2019
  6. nooo it was back in the mid 90's I think pre Isle of Anglesey when I lived in Stockport. Here it is rare as rocking horse poop to have windless days anytime of the year .. this October has been the exception to the rule with several windless sunny days .. makes all the difference in what it "feels like"
  7. I can only recall one Feb day where shorts and a T were worn, this Oct has delivered several thus far
  8. Yes but you cannot compare October with Feb in terms of the "feel" of the sun, as atm the sun shines through a warmer 850 blanket than you would have in Feb
  9. Yay .. similar here today, surprised how warm the sun is atm , another late October day that eclipses July and August 2023 for sun and warmth, heavy dew overnight here so was a tad damp to start with
  10. Another bonus October day , wall2wall sunshine, zero wind, and warm in the sun , another Shorts and T day , with a beautiful sunset to finish off, a day that bettered any day in July and August here. Reminded me of the 70s when we had half term school hols in Abersoch, mild and sunny and swimming in the sea
  11. Lowest I can see for my neck of the woods is Dec 2011 with a paltry 21.3hrs , not checked others months , as I figured Dec with the least daylight hours would be a good place to start
  12. Yes , quite rare to get prolonged heavy rain from the NE , my back / side door receiving a good old pasting today, and blowing old boots too , winds on the up as I type gusting 50+
  13. Yes quite an unusual Storm System this one as al78 mentioned above, with a 974mb LP stalled over the southern UK and going nowhere fast. Typically storm systems of this depth transition the UK quickly empowered by the Jet Stream. this case a very deep low with no Jet stream to move it through , in conjunction with a strong Scandi Block of a reinforced concrete wall An interesting stat would be the length of time (hours) of mslp over the UK of sub 975mb, I wonder if there exists a record for that? perhaps one for the "stats gurus" on here
  14. lol & commensurate with a July 2023 chart mate .. pretty sure I posted similar back then , as to "how many fronts can the UK accommodate with one LP System"
  15. noooo ! take this filth away and bring back the sun, light winds and warmth, as per the start of the week, much more useful & pleasant than getting battered and p1ssed on
  16. I won't disagree with you bud as the higher than normal temps are associated with Storm Babet... BUT you could also say the extensive rain, specifically over north east Scotland and severe flooding is due to the Scandi Block preventing Storm Babet's fronts from transitioning north wards and stalling over said region
  17. Amazing skyscape just, as a Thunderstorm tracked in from the south Delivering a few thunderclaps and cloudburst , always sounds epic on the conservatory roof 20231019_175328.mp4
  18. Clever or coincidence ? Adian M's intro to this afternoon's MetO Forecast background imagery of heavy rain, in keeping with the forecast "deluge" , appears to be bouncing off his swish wet-look gelled hair ... it's the light reflection causing a "shimmering effect" https://youtu.be/pO3aNdpHBok?si=sqYV16ZF4_pPnnWA
  19. Hi Buzz , morning .. I tend to stick with the Windy.com website (non-premium / free) Lots of options to select, (Blue, Vis, Infra) & different cloud levels can be viewed via the menu to the right (Cloud base, Low Clouds etc) https://www.windy.com/-Satellite-satellite?satellite,52.137,-4.417,7
  20. Indeed Sir! I am pretty much 60 miles bang on due east of you in Howth always good to keep a weather eye on the horizon and beyond
  21. A good point mate .. and the same applies to the UKMetO , Observations , albeit forecast rain is shown
  22. Beautiful sunrise this morning upon leaving on the School run @ 0720
