  1. I think I'll stay in here for the rest of the evening. A few in the isha thread have ruined it. Apparently, you're condemned if you share thoughts/observations about weather events in your location.
  2. Not just here, both Hurn and Portland haven't had wind speeds close to January 2nd.
  3. Peak gusts are around now for here and it's not on par with January 2nd.
  4. I'd like to be proven wrong, but something tells me that video is not in the UK.
  5. 51 and 52mph are the highest gusts for me so far. Not quite as bad as January 2nd though.
  6. The multiplier needed for your anemometer height is 1.22, but unfortunately, it's not quite as simple as that, as it would assume you're in a wide open space, with no obstructions for several hundred feet in all directions.
  7. I honestly don't know MWB. It's not going as I thought it would for this neck of the woods. lol
  8. The UKV also suggests that it should be gusting to 55mph now, but we're a long way from that!
  9. Either there's a delay in this system, or wind speeds are not as strong as forecast for down here..
  10. Just been out to put a couple of pieces of timber against a couple of rickety fence panels. Had a gust of 43mph while out there. I was hoping I could get close to, or beat my gust record of 59mph..
  11. Met Office. I usually record close to, or below what they forecast. I don't bother with the BBC, as their wind speeds are greatly exaggerated for here.
  12. Wind forecasts for tonight have decreased slightly for here.
  13. Yeah, nothing substantial, but a precursor to tomorrows events. Wind has sort of picked up now that the rain has arrived. I just noticed that the 10cm soil temp here is 1.1°C and the pond temp is is 3.2°C. It'll be interesting to see how quickly they rise when the rain does it's job.
  14. There must be a delay in tonight's system, as it's supposed to be gusting to 40mph here. Just a gentle breeze at the moment.
  15. The standout point for my area tomorrow night, is the longevity of the high gusts. Over the last couple of years, there's maybe a 1 hour window of peak gusts, with a difference of 10mph or more, on both sides of that window. Tomorrow's forecast gives 6 - 8 hours of almost the same gust speeds of 50 - 60mph. That's highly impressive for here!
  16. A max of 8.3°C today. A bit of a nothing day of weather. Wind has picked up a little in the last half an hour though.
  17. The meek cold spell is over here. Rapid temp increase took place as the wind became south-westerly
