  1. Yeah, nothing substantial, but a precursor to tomorrows events. Wind has sort of picked up now that the rain has arrived. I just noticed that the 10cm soil temp here is 1.1°C and the pond temp is is 3.2°C. It'll be interesting to see how quickly they rise when the rain does it's job.
  2. There must be a delay in tonight's system, as it's supposed to be gusting to 40mph here. Just a gentle breeze at the moment.
  3. The standout point for my area tomorrow night, is the longevity of the high gusts. Over the last couple of years, there's maybe a 1 hour window of peak gusts, with a difference of 10mph or more, on both sides of that window. Tomorrow's forecast gives 6 - 8 hours of almost the same gust speeds of 50 - 60mph. That's highly impressive for here!
  4. A max of 8.3°C today. A bit of a nothing day of weather. Wind has picked up a little in the last half an hour though.
  5. The meek cold spell is over here. Rapid temp increase took place as the wind became south-westerly
  6. And just like that, above freezing. That was a rapid increase! Air quality has improved instantly though.
  7. UKV has strengthened wind speeds further for here. I've been under an amber warning for less before.
  8. It's interesting watching my grass temp fluctuate.. it's a good indicator of when the air temp will go up or down, as there's a slight lag.
  9. I had about 3cm here, and it stayed on the ground for 3 or 4 days. Looking at my data for the past 10 days, it's not even close to last January. 16th - 25th. A succession of harder frosts and lower average temperatures.
  10. I haven't particularly been impressed by the cold for here. I don't mean in terms of snow, just temperatures. No crazy minima, and max temperatures have been between 4 and 8°C.
  11. The UKV for here has been consistently showing higher wind gust values than all previous storms - beginning of January, December and November. The duration of those stronger winds is much longer too.
  12. I mentioned in my regional thread that I am surprised by the lack of a yellow warning for the rest of the south coast. The Met Office have me down for a good 6 - 8 hours of gusts up to 55mph. That's significant for my location as I am slightly sheltered. Some of the yellow warnings back in December didn't show wind gusts that high in the forecasts.
  13. A low of -4.3°C Already up to 4.6°C. I'm am surprised by the lack of a yellow warning for Sunday night in to Monday along the south coast. It's showing up over 6 hours of 50mph+ gusts here. That's much higher than when warnings were issued for wind back in November and December.

  15. I do like the stormy weather in Autumn and Winter.. the excessive rain over the last few months has been a nightmare though. Went for a ride on the mtb last night, the local floodplain is still under water after almost two weeks of no rain.
