An amber warning was needed.

The browser window is at 100%. I always keep it at 100%. The zooming is only ever done with the map.

It's just a 2K 32" monitor. The browsing window is hardly using any CPU If I run it back a few frames, it takes like 20 seconds to load the tiles. This PC is a powerhouse, so it's a miniscule workload for it.

3 hour accumulations All of my flower beds were full up of water. They all drain in to the ground as well, so it's not like they are buckets. It shows just how wet it has been because that's highly unusual for the soil type here.

The web app on desktop is so painfully slow these days. The same app on my phone works perfectly.

16.2mm of rain fell in 1 hour here. 26mm in 3.5 hours.

Pressure dropping at 2.6 hPa/hr. I think a flash amber warning should've been issued down here. There's been an accident on the Upton bypass. Flooding on the roads is crazy.

13 minutes later, another 5.6mm on top of that.

Absolutely crazy rain now!

The rain turned torrential for a time here. 61.6mm/hr rain rate. Almost 20mm since midday.

Rain started at 12pm on the dot. 17.4mm in 3 hours here.

Piddling down! 9.4mm so far. Even my sandy-loam soil is puddling up in the flower beds. You know it's wet here when that happens.

Always like a late night quarter moon appearing low in the sky.

So many threads going on in this sub-forum, I had no idea where to post.. I can see why the yellow warning exists down here.. I've recorded 476mm in Autumn, and 215mm so far this winter. Already on 36mm for January.

I've got quite a few pictures from that winter. I went for a fishing session at Worbarrow bay on March 1st - that's a place that I fish at every year, for decades. After those storms, I couldn't believe what had happened to it. The beach had lowered by about 10 feet at the cliff edge, because all of the shingle had disappeared. That image above looks normal, but it's usually like Chesil beach, no sand, just huge levels of shingle. A huge slice of rock disappeared at the bottom of the 'tout' One of my favourite places to go to living down here.

Love the stormy images. It reminds me of when I took a bunch from the opposite side - Studland - back in February 5th 2014.

I would be cautious in thinking that.. lots of posting temperature charts showing negative figures, but cloud will be an issue for many!

It's strange seeing Hurn having a higher peak gust than Portland.

NP. Those sonic anemometers are expensive, 4 times the price of a traditional cup-anemometer. People think they are more accurate because they don't have any moving parts, but time and time again, the same flaw creeps in.. when there's extreme wind speeds, debris and rain causes anomalous wind speeds to be recorded. No doubt, it is windy there, possibly 80mph gusts, but I don't believe the 99mph. I've looked at some other stations close by; Polzeath, St Enodoc, they've shown 60 - 70mph.

That's yet another station that uses a sonic anemometer. They aren't trustworthy.

Hurn had a gust of 63mph - 10 minute average 38mph. That's rather impressive!
