Not far from couple of our rentals… just been looking online… jeez quite a bit of damage… poor people… See Huddersfield Road closed due to fallen trees… backs onto one our properties… Storm Gerrit: 'Tornado' damages 100 homes in Stalybridge WWW.BBC.CO.UK Roofs are torn off houses, trees are blown down and walls collapse in Tameside during Storm Gerrit.

1c out cloud increasing lovely day with sunshine west of Keswick… so pretty in the sunshine and more seasonal temperatures… back to wet and windy tomorrow for travels home Models all over the shop atm… chopping and changing… maybe new years and after colder and more winter like… wouldn’t mind some cold sunny dry weather for a couple of weeks…

Very windy overnight and this morning very squally gusts… a few heavy showers… lovely walk around Keswick and the shops and delis… looking very festive… lots of visitors staying over for Xmas… every other person has one or more dogs… never seen so many dogs Taste of our old home in Kent in Cumbria and our rib of beef for Xmas lunch(all calculated cooking times done ) Off out for tea in a bit…

We’re in, unpacked and gas fire on… cosy cottage… Heavy drizzle fest in Glossop, all the was to sinister island then dry for an hour driving north with sunshine visible at the coast… more rain/drizzle towards shap then almost dark as night in the north lakes… hills hugged by clouds but lighter but strong gusty wind here this evening… Booths chicken Kiev for tea Happy Christmas Eve Eve everyone

Cheers thank you Have a lovely Christmas Rush we’re finishing off packing, a few jobs around house then heading to gun inn in Hollingsworth for a friends 40th birthday this evening… travelling tomorrow morning to hopefully be in Keswick lunchtime looking at local facebook the high street is flooded in Glossop Weather-History that looks of interest but will be keeping an eye over Christmas for any firming up on details

Doh hope you are fine later on to travel back off to our house in stalybridge to clean up and tidy place after refitting of doors, windows, new light fittings… hopefully new tenants will love it… need to pick up a moving in gift and card… bit wild out but seems to lull and then strong gusts… Woodhead closed to high sided vehicles… can see why with 77mph gusts being recorded to Lee of high ground and on tops

I lived in the Isle of Man from 1992-2000… those years we had some proper big storms.. and quite frequently… with snaefell and Ronaldsway frequently recording 100mph plus gusts… since then, in the iom, those type of storms you can count on one hand… I was at boarding school next to the runway at Ronaldsway… had a day at the met office there for one of my Duke of Edinburghs…
