  1. I understand the bias it goes over the top on the se forum (model forum)… they are in general snowstarved… a dusting closes schools and trains cancelled
  2. We bought our 2 up 2 down in Faversham in an old malthouse on the railway sidings (in 2003) lovely place, for £170k… sold in 2013 and move up to hob hill in Glossop… sold that place for £300k in 2017, now live where we do… had more snow up here and snows every year… think I can count on one hand the amount of times we had snow laying on the ground in Kent… that was over ten years… (unless you were up detling hill and the Weald… or lordswood) my husband previously lived on herne bay seafront in an old Victorian building split into apartments… was lovely high ceilings… remember him coming home from work and having an argument outside… went out and there was a bbc lorry parked in 8 spaces and had little Britain cast filming ten doors down Matt Lucas and David Walliams all dressed up (in their I’m a lady garb) pop their head out
  3. I think we’ll get a bit more of an idea come Sunday… the high res models will then be the reliable for Monday-Wednesday… won’t be nailed down but just a better idea…
  4. Hence it’s been playing with not making much of it and running weaker precipitation across northern France and Belgium… I completely agree ps keeping an eye on the snow in the us… Chicago looks to get a pummeling… plus the Great Lakes are record breakingly warm… some down wind places could get 2-3 feet
  5. Just seeing what ecm and ukv thinking… gfs is chopping and changing every run… not enough detail to show troughs/streamers and as always wanting wet and mild… indeed nothing is nailed down… as long as we get the cold in anything can happen…
  6. Looking at hi res models… especially over the weekend… details to be confirmed
  7. Cheers thanks for that… does sound positive… get the cold in and let the fun and games begin obviously as others have said the details are to be seen but good summary of the 10-14 days ahead
  8. 5.2c dew 3c not the 6-8c promised on auto forecasts… just done two hours cutting back plants in garden to fill the green bin to be put out later… now awaiting delivery of wood, coal & kindling in the next hour… interesting ukv as we get into reliable timeframe features appearing
  9. All I’m saying is 4 x gfs per day = 28 runs 4 x icon = 28 runs 2x ecm = 14 runs a lot of charts to go and permutations
  10. But nothings a given this far out…. troughs and streamers are possibilities… where and when isn’t known… the charts for systems moving from west/south west are a week away… long time in meteorology
  11. 4.2c max today dew point upto 3c… definitely felt milder without the wind… anyhows woodburner on and making homemade kfc for tea… Poor Paddy in tissue cold/flu coma on couch … listening to greatest hits radio on tv After the Flood on itv tonight with bits filmed in Glossop last year
  12. Hi Raul, bit of damp dismal day but some blue skies poking through now… to be fair everything is up in the air still… if it does snow Wednesday and Thursday but not on Friday then I’d of thought the roads would be clear to the airport… But it’s all to fluid to know at the moment… will have a better idea come Sunday for next week…
  13. 3c drizzlefest continues… just back from walk into Glossop… compared to Mondays walk quite warm walking back up hill with wind gone… just made homemade chicken and vegetable soup as Paddy has bad cold After getting cold air mass in post-Sunday… hopefully fun and games with troughs and streamers… when high res models come into view of the period Wednesday/thursday/Friday could be very interesting indeed…
  14. Sun & drizzle here now just for fun weather underground forecasting 30cm or more next Wednesday with 7-12cm day before and 7-12 day Thursday
  15. Indeedlydoodly imbyism in full throttle in mod thread… if it snows here it does if it doesn’t it doesn’t… interesting model watching but not getting into it until we’re back from Newcastle on Sunday lookslike sleet/wet snow shower overnight but Grey damp and 2c… wind has dropped off and feels less brisk out edit moderate drizzle fest now
  16. Must gustier out this evening… brisk… making woodburner roar on occasion…
  17. Windy.com maps going straight off the ecm run… still it’s just for fun… just played about with their maps… 22cm here 25cm up meltham… maybe more reliable closer to the actual time… for now it’s just one runs prediction at 240 hrs
  18. Won’t know until 24-48 hours beforehand… ie the Cumbria streamer in December… troughs and feature pop up at the last minute… fax charts will pick up on them 24-48 hours before… we’ll have to wait and see
  19. It’s not going to happen as it’s 240 hours away and will not pan out like this but nice to see eye candy on the ecm
