  1. Bit heartbreaking seeing reports from elsewhere this morning, however, I guess we got a nice event in December and also a couple weeks ago. Lost interesting in the weather for the end of the week/weekend, not expecting anything and maybe I will be pleasantly surprised.
  2. Anyone fancy a trip to the east coast of Ireland? Biting cold this morning, probably the first time in a few years where I've been in a proper hurry to get out of it.
  3. Back to the comments on the MOD thread... I don't mind so much the southerly bias since I'm sure the population spread favours the south, it is the constant -oh this model is useless because it isn't predicting what we want to see -god GFS is off on one again because it shows the south going into positive uppers -wait until this model falls back in line, it's just gone a bit silly all these comments as if to suggest that everything should be falling in line for the south to get the goods, and if it doesn't, then it's the models playing up. the reality is, the weather will do why the weather will do, the models just try to identify it before it happens.
  4. Yep, we need it to shift north east by a good 50-75 miles or so
  5. Personally I don't think anywhere will get more than 5cm as things stand, probably more likely 1-3cm across the midlands.
  6. I'm not so sure about moderate, looks very patchy don't you think?
  7. GFS really doesn't look all that great to me, or am I missing something? Light to moderate snowfall for a few hours, surely wouldn't accumulate to more than 2-4cm?
  8. Just on the edge of that shower heading towards Cannock, got our covering renewed within 5 minutes.
  9. Looks like that large shower will miss me to the North, probably a direct hit on Stafford.
  10. Some in land convection looking at the radar? The strength of the sun is probably helping here.
  11. I am not convinced at all at the moment, I think it will stay south of us, areas like Swindon will do well, maybe a cm or 2 for us in Central/North midlands. Pretty sure GFS is still being too progressive with the low.
  12. Yes, Friday seems to be looking less and less promising now...
  13. Hello mate, welcome back. I suspect you did quite well off the NW'erly a couple weeks back.
  14. GFS is okay still, but ideally we could do with an eastwards shift from that first pulse of ppn, I guess we will have to wait and see how it develops this week. you should do well tonight mate.
  15. But of a worrying trend from the 12z's... struggling to being Friday's low into our area.
  16. When can we realistically expect a solid answer, after the 12z's or is it more of a radar watch?
  17. Either you're overreacting or need to manage your expectations better. 'Agony' over the fact you haven't seen heavy snow on a day in which light snowfall was forecast for Eastern areas? We were never forecast to get anything substantial today so I'm not sure why you're so disheartened? We should be looking to tomorrow morning and Friday if we want to see anything notable.
  18. Evening all. An interesting week coming up. Maybe some showers throughout tomorrow before some morn meaningful snow Tuesday. But the real talking point is this system Friday, somewhere in the UK looks set to get an absolute battering, I'm inclined to think the SW, but it's of course too early to tell. But before that, we have the next 48-72 hours to look forward to and distract attention away from the end of the week
  19. GFS is overly progressive unfortunately, very much can ceoubt the Atlantic willl have such an easy time getting through (although I would not mind the GFS verifying)
  20. Not to shoot you down GW, but I think that is very optimistic, maybe up to 5cm in places from showers, maybe 10cm for someone in the line of a wash streamer. Friday low likely to stay down south unfortunately.
  21. Yes, I am not overly optimistic about snow chances for the Midlands, but I am ready to book an Air BnB somewhere on the east Yorks coast/Kent if there looks like being a really severe fall (red warning territory).
