    To date I have had 24 clumps of spawn laid. The first 6 I took out of the pond and put in a separate fibreglass pond to be hand-reared (which I do every year). Many of these are now free from the jelly and grazing on it, some look like black dashes, others have distinct head shapes forming! When they run out of jelly / algae I will once again be boiling lettuce to feed to them. If you've never done this I recommend it - boil the lettuce until it's really soft (almost falling apart) and let it cool then float it on the water. If you listen you can actually hear the mad feeding frenzy as the tiddlypoles start munching on it!! When they've got limbs forming you can feed them fish food flakes as they become carnivorous although if you want a giggle put floating fish sticks in and watch as the olympic-style event of "pushing the food sticks across the water really fast & going round in circles" takes place! At this point the water level needs reducing or put stones in that break the surface of the water so the froglets can climb out. Fun stuff aside, it's fascinating to watch them grow up, from tiny little "full stops" to teeny tiny froglets! :wub: Oh and please submit records to both the Big Spawn Count and your local ARG if possible

    still foggy here too although will brighten up later apparently. There's also the mention of storms in the south tomorrow evening courtesy of the local BBC weather forecasts this morning - fingers crossed here!

    that's curious as the local BBC forecasts this morning are warning this area that we might have thunderstorms on Saturday. According to NW Extra there is a 40% chance of them here on Saturday evening around 21:00hrs but I fully expect that to change

    Not on the scale of yesterday but there are some warnings out today for tornados and severe thunderstorms in Florida. Am watching "Warmsector" on http://chase.tornadovideos.net/pages/full_screen at the moment who appears to be in a good position.     Oooooh congrats Beka! x Don't wish for heat when pregnant tho' - I had that problem in 1998 and I'm sure I melted a bit at some point! Pleasant day today, not as warm as yesterday but I'm liking the warmer weather now & looking forward to a thundery summer (well I live in hope!)

    very little snow at home and almost no sign of it left however the drive to skool was interesting - the further north I drove the more snow there is & it was still trying with tiny little flakes - think it's stopped now though. Was amusing to see the "kids" doing handbrake turns in the carpark and someone had drawn a rather rude male appendage on the rear window of someone else's car which I found highly amusing !!!

    Yeah but he's a bloke hun & they don't tend to read manuals / leaflets - think that's genetically imprinted in them lol! Light snow now falling here, sounds like musical ice particles, off to bed now though :-)

    That's hardly fair! All PFC is doing is reporting on his lack of snow, as am I. And yes, I have a lamp post outside and there's sweet fa falling!

    Greetings from a mile down the road from you where it is also snowing although the flakes are tiny, few and slow-falling. Let's hope it gets heavier eh!
