  1. Is that seriously predicting a temp of -24 down here on the (usually) sunny South Coast???? P.S. Glad to have both Nick L & GTLTW in this thread - maybe you guys can translate updates from the mystery that is the model discussion forum into plain English for me/us in here iowpompeylee - let me know which ferry to catch!
  2. Come visit - we don't bite (unless asked to) lol I think this thread will be rather quiet as the forecast snow seems to hit an invisible shield over Hampshire but I'm happy to be proved wrong
  3. well that was a fun drive home - blue skies and a rainbow to my east (where I was heading) and one giant ominous black cloud to my west - felt like it was chasing me home! Got home to bluey-grey skies then there was a brieft heavy downpour, now it's drizzling. I see NW radar is showing lightning close by - not seen any yet myself but that would be a nice way to finish the day (especially as Murray lost the damned tennis!)
  4. OMFG could the snow dodge me any more than those images are showing???
  5. Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Nowt here either although it's a bit windy now and feels cooler
  6. BBC south just said thundery, haily, possibly snowy down here tomorrow but I won't hold my breath as the main forecaster after her didn't really hint at the same thing
  7. A few odd pics from me Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus sp.) Dryad's Saddle (Polyporus squamosus) One that always elicits a chuckle from me - Common Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus) Bonfire night 05/11/10 Santorini, 2007. I hate flying & only went there coz my sister decided to get married abroad! http://cdn.nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.png
  8. Couple of birdies from me, need to upload more to my website (one day - when I have a free couple of hours!) Collared Dove (Streptopelia decaocto) Juvenile Starling (Sturnus vulgaris) Goldfinch on feeder (Carduelis carduelis)
  9. A few animal photographs from me Adder (Vipera berus) in New Forest on 30/07/10 One of hundreds of photo's I have of hundreds of Common Frog tadpoles munching boiled lettuce in my pond (yes, I boil lettuce for them every day!) A tiddlypole (as I call them) 2 froglets "leaving home" Gizmo - my cat Gizmo getting brainfreeze from a Magnum on a hot summer's day

  11. Rofl! I look forward to seeing your photo's / video's of hundreds of gorillas chasing you across the usa! Just seen this update on facebook: Reed Timmer: Meteorologist and Extreme Storm Chaser -Atmosphere is destabilizing ahead of the squall line moving into western Louisiana, with no cap now across all of central/southern LA and 300+ m2/s2 helciities. Tornado potential is increasing in this area.
  12. Just noticed there is a warning out for Shreveport/West & South Louisiana/Southeast Texas for tornadoes, thunder, hail to 1" (ouch) & "dangerous lightning" (when isn't it dangerous??)
  13. Ahhh that makes sense. The forecaster doing the weather was waving her arms rather vaguely when she said that and wasn't actually clear about where this would be happening so cheers for clearing that up
  14. Yup, am seeing a number of warnings for Austin, Texas - tornado, flood & "dangerous thunderstorms"
  15. Just seen the BBC weather report this morning, seems to imply squally rain tomorrow with a chance of hail and thunder but I won't hold my breath
  16. You scan it with an app on your mobile and it takes you straight to the page to download the app
  17. Would prefer a Netweather app but this'll do in the mean time - cheers for post
  18. Well it's absolutely peeing it down here in Winchester & has been since 7am. Here's hoping I'm not outside much today, I hate feeling soggy! :-(
  19. looks like I'm going to have to be patient - next week looks possibly maybe slightly hopeful!
  20. Is this warning somewhat earlier in the year than usual? I've been keeping an eye on http://chase.tornado...ges/full_screen but am aware that it's very scary and more dangerous when tornadoes happen at night! Stay safe
  21. Funnily enough Mike that's what I'm doing my final thesis on - frog spawning times in Hampshire and whether the weather and location of the pond (urban or rural) have an effect on spawning times. Got spawning data from early 1810, just gotta grab the weather data now (from the M.O. I guess)
  22. I do! I'm a Bat Conservation Trust member, I have a bat detector and will be getting training for a licence soon too! I also love newts and am in the process of being trained for a license to handle Great Crested Newts too! I guess it wont suprise anyone to hear that I'm studying a Conservation & Wildlife Management degree at the moment (finish in June)
