  1. For anyone with an airband scanner here's a winning pilot quote "can we try another level coz we're getting kicked to hell up here!" Suddenly I remember why I don't fly!
  2. Finally off to bed after putting buckets under 3 leaks in the conservatory! Here's hoping I get some sleep, stay safe all x
  3. lol agree about the poor guy at Mudeford. Following general forecast was interesting though, MO still certain of another interesting day on Thursday, hurrah! I really should go to bed now but bed = no forums / weather watching
  4. wow it sounds bad outside and despite living in a not-old and stable house I can't help but get a worry-driven adrenaline rush when the wind gusts, sounds like it's strong enough to blow a house down (although I know it isn't!) Last gust was 31mph  Edit: pressure now dropped to 985.6
  5. via the M27? I've got to do that journey too but in the opposite direction and I hate that damned bridge (I have visions of someone going off it) *shudder*
  6. Greetings from another southerner! Wind, rain and more wind - love it!
  7. UKASF not showing anything on their website but they did just post on Facebook: United Kingdom Advisory Storm Forecasts (UKASF) TUE 13 DEC 2011: Lightning possible along coasts from widespread convection...
  8. None taken, I can only go by what the weather station says which is: Pressure [sea level] 1070.5 hPa mBar Pressure [local] 1019.3hPa mBar Pressure 435meter Oddly though I can hear the wind gusting outside yet the anemometer isn't showing strong gusts at all. Wondering if it needs cleaning now... :-( Correction: gust just recorded at 39.9kph, think I had the wrong "view" set for wind-speed
  9. Naff all here at the moment: 1019.3mBar, 6.1oC, strongest "gust" so far 17kmh/10mph and 5mm of rain. Bah!
  10. You're right there, temp was at 9.3oC with 7.2oC windchill, I'm now watching it drop (currently at 9.0 / 6.1)
  11. Weather has now totally changed here. Some rain and the wind is picking up plus I noticed when I went out for a cigarette that the temperature has dropped. Many hours watching the forums / models / my weather station to look forward to methinks!
  12. Lunchtime forecast on bbc1 (so met office) say gusts of 50-60mph inland and 70mph by the coast in Hampshire plus the chance of wintery showers this week! Just had some rain here but not for long and sun is out again. It's all quiet on the southern front (for now)...
  13. I've kept up with these posts all weekend & am interested in seeing what actually happens this week. Spent time yesterday putting garden furniture in the garage and bought some tough plastic sheeting & tape just incase I (or my neighbours) are badly effected by the predicted weather. Have woken up this morning though to a glorious day - blue sky, bright sunshine and not cold (7.2oC feels like 9.9oC) and it's hard to believe what's in store considering! Not looking forward to the drive to college tomorrow morning and on Thursday & Friday if the predicted weather comes to fruition!
  14. Is it a coincidence that I saw a stunning "mackerel sky" tonight which also signifies a change in weather, this quote sounds quite apt "Small, white and fluffy cirrocumulus clouds typically consist of ice crystals and form at altitudes around 6,000 to 10,000m (18,000 t o 30,000ft). They often form well ahead of depressions and their associated fronts. Mackerel skies and mares' tails describe forms of cirrocumulus and twisted sheaves of cirrus respectively implying strong high-level winds."
  15. Wow, an interesting read! I'll certainly be keeping an eye on this forum & forecasts over the next couple of days. I note the MO already has a warning out for Hampshire on Monday & Tuesday (although my faith in the MO is somewhat less than it used to be ) Slightly off-topic but I witnessed an amazing mackerel sky this evening, not seen one like it in years and there was a clearing in front of the moon giving it a lovely multi-coloured "halo" - what a fabulous thing, nature!
  16. Ahhhh so that's what made me jump! It's been very windy all day but with little rain until that hit, then it was deafening on the conservatory roof and my cat came flying in through the catflap squeaking a lot and looking rather soggy!
  17. Whenever I've looked at storm-trackers during the summer months one area that really sticks out as being a storm hotspot is the Côte Sauvage (Savage Coast, near Brittany). It also helps that the scenery looks pretty stunning too - I plan to go there myself at some point!
  18. Hi Paul If I do that I get a hyperlink saying Netweather GFS image and if I click on that I get a popup screen with an error. FYI I selected "UK storm risk" from the dropdown options & I'm using Mozilla Firefox. Error message: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, root@localhost and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Edit: tried selecting different options and I get images up, just the UK storm risk one seems to be a problem...?
  19. lol I am already addicted to the radar as you well know Coast I do have a query though - I subscribed to NW extra lite and when I click on GFS key weather charts I get lots of buttons and a couple of slidey scales but no image. Should I be getting an image or am I being a dumbass...?
