  1. It's cooler than average over all but down here it's still been sunny enough to make up for that, and the blossoms have been particularly fine this year.
  2. Disappointing day after yesterdays best day for the whole of August in these parts. Dull and overcast most of the day with some periods of light rain. Clouds finally started to break at about 5.45. Relatively mild but sun came too late to make any impression on the temperature - about 17/18C. It'll be better tomorrow
  3. Well I'm still feeling rather fed up... Sunshine levels in Somerset have helped reduce the level of grumpiness but there's been no evenings sitting out like last year since July. I'm of the opinion that summer ends on 20th September so August is only halfway through. I went to Norway a few years ago in late August, and this is the weather they normally get. Maybe I should move to Catalonia.
  4. Very cool start - I needed a vest AND jumper today - whole day overcast with only a small break of sun late afternoon, some drizzle. Warmed up to about 17C by 5.00 p.m. Dull dull dull.
  5. Nicer than expected I think - light shower to start the day but sunny afterwards with only a heavy breeze stopping temperatures going higher, but a pleasant enough 20C. Beautifully clear air allowing fine views.
  6. We sat out huddling around the BBQ all with coats and jumpers on as stalwart Brits will do. At least it stayed dry, but the cold winds made it rather rubbish. Today we had some decent sunshine so it felt more rather more like a pleasant May day.
  7. BBC weather tonight .. 'Unseasonably cold into next week'.
  8. Remarkably heavy thunderstorm over Bridgwater just before lunch today, torrents of water down the high street of Glastonbury. Billowing cumulus clouds everywhere. Not that warm at all - very much like late September. Many walking about in jumpers and light coats. Only about 16 max really, but it got a bit warmer near the end of the day when it settled down.
  9. Not so much rain in these parts but less sun too - seemed cooler than yesterday. A colder night too.
  10. Not central heating but I'm back to two duvets now.
  11. Compared to two years ago this August is better - 2012 was awful with the second Sunday only reaching 13C and continual rain and dark clouds. At least we're getting SOME sun this time around. But highest forecast temperatures of 18C are disappointing. Unfortunately I nipped off to France in June expecting nice weather, but got a plume of Atlantic greyness and coldness while the uK had better weather! So I feel like I've only had one month of summer so far. I need more!!
  12. Some hope in my heart for a September radiance but I won't hedge my bets. Enjoyed July, though. Yesterday - Bertha day - wasn't too bad in Somerset and after the rain went through we had a sunny if windy afternoon with very clear air and just the odd shower, much better than expected. If anything today was what we were expecting yesterday with much more rain.
  13. Plenty of very heavy showers around today with less sun than yesterday. Some showers torrential for two or three minutes. Cool - rather wonderful cloudscapes at times. Sun warm when it came through but too short to heat the day up. Missing summer already
  14. Disappointingly dull in Somerset where the matt of grey seemed to be thinning around lunchtime but has since become thicker again. Result was warmish and dry day after a night of drizzle, but with little brightness, leaving us rather perplexed as it was difficult to discern the different times of day. A rather strange day weatherwise, really.
  15. Disappointing day in regards to recent forecasts - matt dark grey clouds with signs of rain instead of the sun we were told we'd get yesterday. I note met office have the clouds moving south-westwards into my area. Tomorrow still forecast as warm and sunny but after two days of last minute rewrites from warm and snny to cool and grey I'm not holding my breath. Only about 16/17 C at present.
  16. Lovely. After several years of making the best of the odd day here and there over the last seven years (unless I went abroad) and posting upset grumpy messages on this forum - this year is delivering some summer. Very happy.
  17. I live about 7 miles from the festival although I'm not going.... Confusing weather reports at the moment. Met office local forecast says some rain tomorrow evening (Thursday) but video on same site says sun and 21C. Met also shows Azores High drifting away leaving cool cloudy weekend, but Weatheronline (which in my experience has been much more accurate over the years) shows the Azores High going further north, with slightly warmer weather as a result. All very muddling - guess you just go for it!
  18. Weatheronline showing weather systems going further north than initially thought which is good news (for this area anyway).
  19. Absolutely. I thought I'd pop my head in and say how fine the weather is and how this late spring/early summer is the best since 2006 at least. Long may it continue. No complaints here.
  20. I planted some seeds last weekend, but not even bothering to water them as nothings warming up my greenhouse yet and so they won't germinate yet. It must come soon,
  21. Feeling like midwinter here. A little sleet but full snow up on the Mendips and Quantocks leading to a light covering. Only about 1 degree and the birds have gone quiet again after an initial burst of song earlier in the week.
  22. It's not that long since I had winters with no snow at all. Ice was the problem here this morning when cars were slipping about after rain fell on a frozen road, and we had several accidents in my locality. I personally would like snow mid-week so I get snowed in like I did for a day or so last year. The pub was open so I walked there and had a pint! The only drag is my employers make me take the day off as annual leave even if I can't possibly get there!!
