Such a shame for us on the Coast. These stormy showers always beef up over land, leaving a swath of mainly clear air over the coast and nearby areas. I've been looking jealously North the last few weeks at the towering clouds forming. I need French formed ones on a decent plume in humid weather please!

I seem to recall most of our activity coming from that hot and humid stretch between the 7th and the 12th August. Most of it was offshore but I think we had one night with a multicell cluster hitting the coast?
I think your probably right. There was one night where we had some quite ferocious Rain hitting with the storm. It was about 9.30-10ish in the night, just when I was going to bed. Typical!
Quite a Juicy Cell just missing you right now I see.- 2

Even just hearing the elevated thunder is nice! A decent start to the season for us I would say
Yup! Lets hope its a good year for them, Eastbourne missed out on a few that skimmed Bexhill and Hasting last year if I remember rightly?

I'm loving this cold spell. Snow, Ice, whatever its my cup of tea as a weather enthusiast. I'm old enough to not let the 'let downs' bring me down as much as when i was a child in the 70's

That isn't accurate at all ^
Your constant moaning over the years tends to not be very accurate either buddy. Try to chill out and be a bit of a happier person mate. I'm sure at the end of the day your excited for any cold snowy weather that may happen!

Hello mate. What a shame the ground has been so wet. I hope this dont turn out to be a waste of snow and it does settle somehow.
Hi buddy well it has perked up a bit in intensity and now finaly started settling on the grass and cars. Its a start! the Temp has dropped to just below freezing too now, so that will be helping.

I really wish they would stop saying "temperatures will struggle" - no they won't; they are not living entities, they are simply measurements and cannot try to do anything.
Be happy mate! its been a great winter for interesting synoptics. your posts all seem a bit down. Personally I'm quite excited for the incoming cold period. I am sure you are too really

Met office forecast dont look to good for later. Like you say fizzling out by then. Looked like just an area cloud. Maybe another system coming into cold air at the weekend but I dont think that's a good set up for us. Always seems to rain. Too close to the channel.
Hmm, its just another reason for me to have to wake up early on Saturday or Sunday on my day off. I'm sure il be let down again, but it doesnt stop me waking up as always since i was a kid! Keep the faith mate!

They are the ones I use. Being willingdon trees im kind of in-between them. Temp down to 2.1c now. I can see I few suspect bits in the rain.
Ha! thats the best it got for us. Its almost passed us now. The last bit of hope for today is if it pivots like they say and comes back down, but i fear it maybe too far east of us and be fizzling away by then. Im just up the road from you in carew road, so a about 20m asl

Morning. Same here. Got up to a frost -1 i think it was. Im gutted weve missed out again. I was reading yesterday about some signs of the beast but even the beast doesn't always deliver snow for Eastbourne of it comes off at all. Do you own a weather station or do you use the ones in Eastbourne?
i use 2 online that are based in ratton and willingdon so not that far away from me really. just had a rain/sleet grauple shower and it brought the temp down to 3.6 from a high of 4.2
The louds are breaking up a bit too now. ooh dearly me!! -

Yeah I was a bit surprised about that. No chance of snow for us.
Good morning mate! I woke up early and was happy to see a decent frost but that really is a quick rise in temps. it seems to of stopped rising for the last 15 mins now though. All i can hope is it drops in any precipitation. Weve been unlucky down here on the coast the last few years again. Nowt!!

Aww great memories guys and girls! i also used to frequent snow watch and then here when it closed. I think i joined amongst the earliest ones? im sure i was member number under 100, but i could be wrong. Crazy snowman fan was brilliant. Ian Brown was... well Ian Brown.... I always wonder what happened to the member 'Coast' he was on the forum team and also from Eastbourne. he disapeared a while ago. Always love the site even when it kicks off with grumpy posts and arguments lol. But its a shame some of the real characters dont seem to be with us anymore.

Nah me darlin'. there was almost one that slowly made its way towards Eastbourne on Monday evening. It got as far as Hailsham then broke up. I got 30 seconds of drizzle while up the road got a half decent storm. I blame the Downs. Suntrap of the south? Meh
