Maybe - dewpoints look iffy lol but anyone who gets a bit of sleet / snow good luck

    Clear skies here

    3.8C

Sadly the dps are still around 2ish down here on the south coast, temps have dropped from a high of almost 4 to around 3 now but i thin its still a bit too marginal. nothing better to do with my Saturday currently than hope

Just seen the Look East temperature projection for next Tuesday/Wednesday and 6c with north easterly winds!!! Sara Thornton said 'we lose the real cold air' (of tomorrow) - so if this is the case those SST's will be superfluous - really that high? Personally feel it will be a colder than that, we didn't reach 4c on Xmas day with near -5c 850 uppers.

Agree with you fellow Partridge nut! I dont mind her as a forecaster but, she seems to be saying the opposite of what the charts and us lot are saying/seeing? the end of the weekend to the start of next week is meant to be colder coming with the easterly....

I have and will ever be amazed at the belief people put into a computer generated 'forecast' for what the weather might be in three days time. i have knowledge of computers and understand how they work, which is basically a matter of programming.

yet i still see the model thread posts hanging on to what might be. surely it is a matter of what tomorrow brings and if it does or doesn't than no computer on this planet can determine that.

its winter. it might be cold. it might be snowy, frosty, wet, windy. but after all it is what it is.  i love the cold, i crave snow, i hope it is frosty but i don't let it rule my life if nothing happens other than its the season that it is.

Again my friend as I said in the model thread, i think you are in the wrong place then. x

Thank you. Home now. Beautiful spring day here, sunny ☀️ and 17°C. OH happy to have company (see how long that lasts lol ).

Food shops and pharmacies are open here, public transport is running, too. Absolutely everyone is wearing face masks. It’s now mandatory to do so on all public transport and in shops, or there’s a big fine. Seems sensible ?? Otherwise, no panic buying or selfish hoarding, thankfully.

Enjoy it my friend! I got sent home yesterday to isolate for 2 weeks. My Poor good lady has been isolating now for a week already, stuck in her bedroom, she has been very poorly and as soon as she feels a bit better she goes downhill again. Thankfully i still have yet to have any symptoms. I suffer from lung/ COPD problems. Look after yourselves everyone.
    much love

  6. Good morning Lottie. It is looking more and more likely that we will get a cold spell, starting around a weeks time. the usual shifts in models have been occurring but, all gravitating back to an Easterly push starting around the 22ndish.
It would be nice to see a bit of snow as its always a horrid thing when we do not get any for a whole Winter period.
I do hope it does not affect the spread of the Virus though, hopefully the opposite as it will keep people indoors more. Myself and my good Lady are currently in our 2nd day of Self isolation here. She fell ill on Thursday and so is stuck in the bedroom while i havnt caught it so far thankfully. I have COPD so my lungs would really struggle if i did catch it. We are both going stir crazy already her upstairs and me stuck in the lounge

    Stay safe everybody

I’d take a short lived cold spell. After all, it’s not like it’s going to be drifts and ice days for days on end. In reality a day or two with some flurries. At least it’s not showing the onslaught of wind and rain from the Atlantic - more wind and rain is definitely what we don’t need now!

The squall line doesn’t want to move closer to me.....the downs is killing it

no. the pressure system is now moving in an easterly direction hence the bands are now moving in a more east to west.
bloody annoying though. its going to be close whether it even skims us both in our towns. grrr!

I was at school age when the storm of 87 struck. Where we lived we often had strong winds so I managed to sleep thorough it all. We didn't have much damage so we were lucky - our roof was fine as was our garden fences - the only thing it did surprisingly, was 'dump' the contents of two flower plastic plant urns by our front door perfectly without even damaging the contents, while the pots had found their way down the road.  My bedroom window was covered in mud.

A friends father, then a fireman, rung us to say not to go out soon after we found out school was closed as it was still too dangerous. My school lost it's gym roof and took months for it to be repaired.

To put in context, we lived maybe 5 miles away from the south coast and the school a mile and a bit further. I think the more in land you were the worst it was. 100's of trees were felled that night.

Blimey, i didnt know you were soo old Dami  i was at college in Eastbourne in 87 so im even older tho!
It does look like it may be one of the windiest days we have had for many years. Some including BBC weather are now saying 70 - 80 miles an hour near the coasts, and that could be quite damaging, especially as its due during the day and for an extended period. I must admit though, with the lack of any interesting weather this winter it is a bit exciting.
