Could today be one of those wintry Smarch days I fondly remember from childhood: patiently hoping and praying for a past-five-o'clock mini blizzard?
Few showers coming down towards north Norfolk coasts.
May make inroads..

First proper snow here in colchester..
9 minutes ago, Lauren said:Unexpectedly snowing here but far too wet for it to settle.
It's trying to settle due to evaporative cooling.
But need a good heavy burst .

I don't think anyone north of London will agree with this being over hyped after today . This time it's London's turn to here about snow causing problems while sitting there wondering what all the hype is about.
Not in colchester..
Sleet all day yesterday after a few flakes early hrs.
Rain all morning..
It is what it is

Always do well in that neck of the woods.
Shame tonight has diluted into rain though, could have been quite special.
Mine diluted into rain at about 8.30am.
Nothing here but drips.
It's too warm unfortunately

Slight dusting on rooves, grass and cars. Snowing lightly ATM. Automated met office forecast going for mostly rain and sleet today even this evening when it was showing a period of heavy snow yesterday.
Every time I look at the snow charts posted and think wow that looks amazing and every time the reality is considerably less amazing.
Agree supposed to have heavy snow here but its very light.

Well this has been disappointing. Woke up expecting the sky to be that weird orange colour you get at night. Nope. As predicted, nothing here just outside Colchester.
Getting snow in Stanway?

Just woke up.
I thought I'd leave heating on very low tonight.
Now I am too hot
Not used to it
I never sleep well when it's a snow possibility.
Nothing yet but creeping over my region on radar.

Yeah 100% agree, given how it is a rather marginal set-up I'd be much less confident of accumulating snow if this came in at say 12-1pm instead.
I think I've put my flag in the ground when it comes to the snow chances tonight, I hope we aren't let down. FWW Arpege 18z is a little more intense with precip, goes for a broad 3-6cms and some areas getting more into the 7-12cms range.
It's lovely dry and crisp outside atm.
Perfect for settling snow !

Agreed. Nothing more than a slush fest on offer for the South East, but it was never really looking like anything else. Think I'll take a break from here for a bit and look forward to warmer weather. The NIMBY ramping is getting really tedious, despite mods repeatedly asking people to stop it.
I think tomorrow night into Thursday looks quite hopeful still?

Looking very interesting for our part of our world, I think our regional thread is about to get very busy over the next 24 hours!
It's too far south for most I think???

My app just changed from rain to snow at 9am.
I am thinking big fat no to that.
But may be surprised...

Has anyone noticed that when it snows in march the snowflakes are absaloutly huge!
In past yrs I have observed how big they are.
Wonder why?
Is it to do with warmer temperatures?
-
I think it will be close but ...no
For me tonight.
Good luck everyone.

After the main event that didn't stick today.
We now are experiencing little snow showers coming from the north across Norfolk coast and dropping in further down .
Just experiencing a nice snow shower that is laying straight away as it's alot colder and drier than earlier.
