It's really fine here in Portsmouth. All the roads are really wet so no chance of it laying
-
Disappointing snow event even for us on the south coast.
-
Below link gives a great view of the system in question, and it appears to be spurting nice bands in a northerly direction, going to be an interesting night radar watching, I'm in for the long haul, beers in fridge!
Or will it split and nobody will get anything
-
Looking forward to the fax tonight to see if we can get a last ditch push north.
-
Can I ask what models the bbc use when forecasting?
-
-
latest live bbc forecast looks pathetic for south coast. hmmmmmmmm
Unsure why this would be? Unless they're seeing something were not?
-
I'm so confused! I come in here and everything looks good for snow but met office forecast shows no snow at all! Help :-)
There main forecast model doesn't update till tonight and that's probably the most reliable.
-
Time for you guys to dig your wellies and snow shovels out for tonight?
Temps:
Dew points:
Don't get our hopes up
-
Met office have now ruled out snow for south central?? Big call maybe
-
Typical, the cold weather is in place but not much precipitation
-
Well if you go by the models then anything could happen today, GFS still says maybe something later?
I think the radar is your friend today
Have you seen the UKMO? Doesn't look the best
-
Looks like a rain event for most today in the south west as the 850hp temperatures have moved north east over night. It would on be -2 or -4 maximum which is rain unfortunately.
-
Typical met office changed the forecast to rain.
-
Not as far as I can tell/see. We are currently under -6c uppers, so much more favourable for us (tomorrow is open to doubt)
SM
Sorry I got the impression you were discussing snow in relation to dew temperature.
Fingers crossed for tomorrow, looks like it will hit us later in the day when the temperature will drop
-
Just want to point out that this Rain/snow is falling in uppers of -3c...
SM
Is it snowing here?
-
They are changing it hourly. They had me down for 9 hours light snow, now 3??
Don't think they will know till tomorrow, although the temperatures look a bit high unfortunately.
-
Met office just downgraded this snow event to pratically nothing
-
Wondering why met office has changed the forecast from snow to sleet??
-
So do we need a push south for the 850hp temperature for the possibility of snow on tuesday?
As the wind looks like changing from a south westerly, this could help the dew points decrease.
-
Hi guys is there any websites for predicted dew points from the models? Assume it
will be on meteociel but can't read french
-
Met office still predicting 5c for the south for tuesday, although the 12z GFS predicts snow for the south coast. There is a lot of precipitation around tuesday so hopefully will change overnight.
-
Anybody got a good links for the dew points? Predicted?
-
As also mentioned by TEITS in the model thread, I'd advise caution there - the wind will be coming from the south west and, despite the low uppers, the lower air will be warmed up a little. Some people on high ground and inland might do okay, but anyone on the SW and Wales coasts won't be so lucky I fear.
Still, we'll see - it's three days away yet and things will no doubt not pan out as the models show - just be careful of anticipating snow when the wind is flowing from the south west, even though the uppers are low.
Fingers crossed for the winds to change to an easterly.
