Been downgraded in Bedhampton to light snow
-
Stalled by half hour overnight

Realistically you need the front to stall. This way the cold will be in place for longer
-
Anybody got the charts with the dam line? Looking at for tomorrow's event and where the dam line will be situated.
-
Unsure about upgrades. MO seem to think otherwise. From past experiences GFS isn't accurate at presenting snow for the south
-
Hopefully the front will stall on Thursday, allowing the dew points to be lowered

Has anybody got the latest FAX charts? These are typically the most consistent and excellent for comparison's.

FRI looks like better potential for a decent accumulation down south, colder air than in place on Thursdays potential.
This is very marginal. It seems anything south of London has temperatures round 4-5 degress

Looking at the latest GFS, it doesn't look good for the snow on the south coast. Marginal in terms of cold and precipitation

Our precipitation is coming from the west, not east.

Always the same scenario, down here in the south east after a cool/cold spell for most of the country the models show less cool/cold weather as mentioned by many on here.
However I bet that the temps down here will actually stay the same or get colder,
The temps have been modeled/promised far to low, I would suggest it would be colder down here after the next weekend.
What gives you this perception?

I don't see much snow happening with high pressure being dominant for the near future. Also the long term doesn't look very positive as it looks like we have lost all opportunity of an easterly, and have to rely on anything from the north. Sustained cold has not stuck around for long, with typically missing the vital ingredient for anything spectacular.
Overall its been a disappointing winter, although I had snow last night (not much) I feel sorry for the guys that had none at all and 4-5c is too warm during the day.
-
Slight covering, has not covered the grass though. 1.5/10.. Although it is nice to see some white stuff for a change.
-
We have got sustained cold for a little longer, but the high pressure is dominant unfortunately. This is causing limited precipitation.....
Getting slightly fed up with chasing the snow at the moment, it seems to be playing against us,,,
Bring on spring, happy warmer weather...

Can anyone tell me when the supposed cold spell/snap is going to start here in the South? I've seen all the headlines re Arctic conditions and other members on the forums' are raving about how cold it's going to be. Whilst there has been a small sprinkle of snow overnight, I would say the temps are only a little down on average and even the wind chill is only making it feel slightly cooler. I'm walking around my house in t-shirt and shorts and haven't even put the heating on. I posted the other day that this is not the bone-aching cold of winter's in the 1970's and I stand by that. I think we are all so desperate for some good old fashioned winter that we are clinging on to a spell which years ago would have been average winter conditions.
I have to agree 100% with this comment, the charts aren't looking the best this morning either. I think we are all clinging on to hope more than anything. Down south we need sustained cold with dew points 500hp and 850hp, not forgetting precipitation. Again the m4 corridor is the major different between temperatures and snow..
-
I think you guys (especially coastal) need to look at dew points and temperature before precipitation. I don't think it's quite cold enough to snow in some areas.
-
Hoping this polar low can make it all the way to the south coast â„â„â„â„
Rain down here I am afraid.. Dew points not low enough..
-
Currently 1.9c with dew point at 0c, Will wait and see what happens?
-
Currently says rain for south central all evening & early hours of the morning?
-
erm, hello ladies
Please explain your point..
This isn't showing anything progressive in my eyes, am I missing something?

Well if that's what we call cold weather, it was atrocious. On to much milder weather rather than cold rain.
Rant over..
