  1. Do you know I"m sure we can smell this down here in Tunbridge Wells - the kids just stepped outside and said 'It stinks out here' - a very gassy smell.
  2. Go to your profile in the top right hand corner then select Manage Ignore Prefs and just key in the name of the person. I have quite a few people on Ignore, saves a lot of stress at times!
  3. If you look closely you can see tiny individual snowflakes in the glitter - like little stars - have no idea why this has happened and have never seen it before. Maybe because it was powder snow that fell in the daytime?
  4. Yes, there is always one and its usually my husband - after the frankly pitiful fall on Friday I looked out of the window only to see that he had recruited the kids as his little snow-destroying helpers... however, today even he has been carried away by the gloriousness of the event and has left it all untouched... he said to me 'You've always been obsessed with snow and I've never understood why - but I think I understand it now...'. Breakthrough!!!
  5. I hope they're not because I've been so busy watching/going out in the snow with the kids, I've just realised I haven't washed/dried/ironed any of their school uniform ready for the morning...
  6. Yes, I agree, much sooner have this than big flakes which degrade when they hit the ground. Tonight you can see tiny individual snowflakes sparkling where they lie - amazing. So, after the agony of the last few days/weeks, has everyone cheered up now?
  7. Under the security light in the back garden individual snowflakes are glittering - they look just like that sparkling star-shaped table confetti - absolutely beautiful. Tried to take a photo to post but it just ended up looking like a lump of white nothingness... After a brief let-up it is hammering down again here. Now have more than 11cm in Tunbridge Wells!
  8. 6.5cm here in Tunbridge Wells including the 1.5 we had from Friday - and it shows no sign of slowing down, in fact if anything it's intensifying. I do live right at the top of a hill though and we always do better. I must say in my wildest dreams I never thought it would be this good... and still no amber warning! This is way more disruptive than Friday - cars slipping and sliding all over the place. It looks stunning though - lovely morning sledging in Calverley Grounds with the kids.
  9. Much better than Friday's snow here in Tunbridge Wells... Agree that this deserved an Amber warning...
  10. I have something similar for my location on the BBC website - but nothing on the MetO website and nothing on the radar. That BBC website tends not to be very reliable, as Bobbydog says - much better off watching the radar.
  11. Well, it's not too bad here in Tunbridge Wells already - been snowing lightly all afternoon, but ramped it up in the last hour or so - gone from 1cm to 2cm in an hour...if it keeps going at this rate we might be able to get the sledges out tomorrow
  12. Easing off now in Tunbridge Wells BUT I see from the MetO website that they have upgraded this location to heavy snow from 3PM - so hopefully this is just an aperitif! And of course it started three hours earlier than it was meant too...
  13. Getting going in Tunbridge Wells now- still very light but becoming more intense by the minute...
  14. I'm not sure what forecast you are looking at - have just checked the forecast for Lewisham in SE London, not far from you, and it is showing a mixture of light snow and even heavy snow right through Friday afternoon and into Saturday... Which is an upgrade from yesterday.
  15. Am a bit concerned that a couple of people (both here and on MO thread) have mentioned Kent missing out if this comes off - from the charts Coast posted that doesn't seem to be the case but would welcome input from anyone better at reading the models than me!
  16. Believe me, I am going to hold back until it's actually falling from the sky... good to have the possibility of something to look forward to though!
  17. That is the best thing I've seen in a very long time... and frankly right now 2cm would satisfy me... (Apologies for sounding like an out-take from a Carry On film - didn't realise the double entendre until after I've typed it!)
  18. He's posting mostly in the London/SE regional thread atm.
  19. Having just popped outside it does seem to have got significantly colder here in the past hour or so - don't have a weather station though, so no way of proving this.
  20. I thought that too - but then at about 1PM we did have an unexpected snow shower - albeit very light, and only graupel, but it was at least snow rather than anything else.
  21. I find the male interpretation of 'essentials' most amusing...
  22. I could be reading this wrong but that seems to me to suggest that most of the uncertainty now lies on where/if snow will fall and that there is less uncertainty with regard to the cold? I too remember Steve M's fantastic call on the February cold - he certainly pulled the rabbit out of the hat back then and appears to have equally convincing arguments this time.
  23. I have to say I think Daddy Bear might let you down... And, that is a seriously disturbing analogy...
